I hope they STILL fire mj because something tells me he got 2 months on the job more cuz he won now... - martox
i seriously doubt a single game against a bottom dweller is a major turning point. Pens need a lot more consistent efforts like that to secure Johnston's job. |

Are saying that maybe, just maybe, if we get to see what we have we might have an acceptable top 4???
There's too many on here that say we suck & don't have legitimate top D men!! So I don't believe you! - Aussiepenguin

Well in sport if you play a good game it gives you confidence - no matter the opposition!
Winning can become a habit, it's not because you play a weaker team (which I completely disagree with you there!!), winning is any less important especially when you are struggling to win!
Edit: Unless you're talking firing the coach!! |

Amen to that! That outlet pass allowed for some time and space through the neutral zone into the offensive zone, something we have not seen ALL year! Wonderful play on all ends, great snipe by Beau! - Weisenheimer
Dinger got one to Kessel in a guest appearance a week or 2 ago that ended up in the net as well!
Apparently poop like that isn't acceptable so Dinger then got sat down for Scudsmuffin to pass the puck to the refs! |

So MJ has spoken on how good he thought the D was against the Avs! Let's see what he does next game??
http://video.penguins.nhl...le?catid=829&cmpid=navbar
Now if he turns around & puts Scudmuffin back in (regardless of the fact that Scuds is a big unit & LA is a physical team), he is a deadset (frank)wit!!! |

HEY in your opinion could Simon replace Perron next year if they were to trade perron at draft? - nh4442
Perron is a UFA July 1st. A draft day trade would be for a 3 or 4th round pick at best, it would be nothing more than early negotiating rights for the acquiring team. But if the Pens believe a guy like Simon can fill Perrons role it's still a benefit to the team because they can let Perron and his 4-5m contract walk and fill the void with 900K Simon and use the saving elsewhere. (Maatta's new deal, UFA D-man, ect)
With that being said, with how weak the pens are on top 6 wings/potential top 6 wings, you better be damn sure a guy like Simon can play at the NHL level before you let Perron walk (even with how average he's been). |

I think Bennett is a decent player but it doesn't matter if he can't stay healthy. Looks like he has a significant knee injury tonight so I wouldn't plan on him making it back this season. It's not pessimism, it's reality. - jfkst1
He was skating around pretty decently after being on the ground for a while both during the time out and after the game to celebrate. His knee locked kind of awkward but he wasn't wincing in pain or anything. If it was a significant injury I'd think he'd be more labored. If we had seen anyone but Beau react to a knee to knee like that we'd all be relieved. I guess we just need to wait 24 hours, see how it swells, and get an official report. Hopefully it's all good because he's done if he sustained another significant injury. |

If Simon can play top six next year, which we should all pump the breaks on, it should have no bearing on whether or not we try to sign Perron. We should move on from Kunitz by this offseason so that will leave two holes at top 6 LW. |

I certainly agree a pumping the brakes on Simon. A Euro excelling in the AHL is nothing new, NHL is a different story for sure. It is how ever nice to see a later Pens pick actually showing some promise. Who was the last Pens post 2nd round pick to become a regular NHL'er? Tyler Kennedy? Max Talbot? Those guys were drafted over 10 years ago.. You gotta score in the later rounds more often than that..(guys like Jake Muzzin and Mark Letestu don't count because the organization was too stupid to hold onto and develop them) |

Oh he will dismiss every advanced stat there is, until he has a small sample size that disproves the overall probability and prediction that advanced stats typically shows. No point in debating him, he doesn't debate. - Guile
More shots = more goals!
Remember that one? Pretty sure I proved your analytical data (read that as general statement), wrong there Guile??

Yeah I mean, if he doesn't answer my question, I'm not gonna waste my time. - j.boyd919
I answered your question, unfortunately you didn't answer mine??
It appears that you're either 1 of 2 things;
1. Not humble enough to concede when the kitchen gets too hot,
Or,
2. Your 18 & not mature enough to discuss a complete subject (I personally don't think you are this one!).
It's fine you insisting on me answer your questions but after I did & then questioned you on your response & asked for answers your response was that you were done (without answering the questions - BUD! ). |

It looked like he had shaken it off and escaped a gnarly knee to knee by the way he was skating around and MJ intelligently held him out as a precaution. But it's Bennett so obviously I was still worried. Yohe has eased my mind a bit but I'm still gonna wait on the official report before I breath out. |

So.. again.. you're saying that people who use stats use stats and only stats. Again your logic is extremely flawed. You said Corsi is flawed, but it is your thought logic that is actually flawed. I think we're done here. - j.boyd919
So I'll take that as a no 'homie'?
Great conversation, hassle for an answer, get it then get asked a few questions yourself & it's the 'quick hit the eject button' & don't answer the questions! |

If Beau escaped injury, he's on a .45 PPG, 35 point pace. If he stays with Sid and stays healthy he can realistically break 40 points this season. That's a respectable figure for a top 9 role player. I hope it works out for him. Kid needs a break. |

If either of them go down I would like to see Sprong and Plot flank Sid for a few shifts at the very least. But with Sprong's 6 minutes of TOI, it ain't gonna happen.
Knew Sprong would be punished for ringing one off the iron |
