I'd imagine Arizona would rather keep Strome and pick 4th or so (someone like Tkachuk it Puljujarvi)
- walshyleafsfan

what if you just use the current standings and they are picking 9th

Oh yeah. Maybe then. They just seem to be spiralling towards the bottom and should be bottom 3 in a few weeks

Jason Blake.

/DoubleDown's argument.

- Atomic Wedgie

actually this would be my argument. it is a group of thoroughly mediocre hockey players though i have to admit.

no but the stats we see are generally score adjusted
- DoubleDown

i cant tell you how infuriating it was when PAP shot the puck last night from like 60 feet and scored just to pad his damn corsi stats.

the correlation between shot attempts and actual time with the puck is very close.
- senstroll

Really?

Where was this measured, how big was the sample size to confirm this correlation.

If it WAS measured, accurately, how come we are using the proxy (shots) instead of the actual stat (possession).

I can't tell you how frustrating it is when people take a sample like that, which is not a normal occurence and use it in an arguement.

Geeze, Senstroll, you did the same thing last week picking out some sequence of events where Kadri gt a 3rd assist.

Look at 2007-08, Jason blake 332 shots 15 goals 4.5%sh
the year before with NYI 302 shots 40 goals 13.1%

http://espn.go.com/nhl/pl...stats/_/id/74/jason-blake

Jason blake is the go to anti corsi argument.

To Arizona for a 2nd rounder.
He should have a nice rest of his NHL career there.

- MaximusAurelius

How long is Mike Smith signed for, I'd give him a shot in TO

I think I would rather hold on to Matthews, although it would be tempting to have potentially 2 high-end prospects.

Any idea who is projected to be available around number 9?

I can't believe we traded David Clarkson, OR hired Mike Babcock.

It would be interesting.

One thing that would make me hesitate would be fear of making a mistake. They *might* trade away the next "best player in the league". It would look horrible on an organization that already has a long and rich history of stupidity.

Maybe it is just better to stay the course(-i)

yeah, gotta agree.

The more I think about it the more I wonder what the offers were for Edmonton's first over-all's and whether or not they were motivated by fear of making a mistake?

When was the last time a high-end first overall pick was traded?
