Still not sure why the Leafs would need to give compensation to Detroit for a guy who's contract expired. - Feeling Glucky?
Equally mind boggling is compensating a team for hiring a coach they fired. Especially when it's Tortorella. |

meh it wasn't offensive but I'm not banned. Perhaps it is provocative in the sense that the discussion that would follow is not one we wanna have on HB. Oh well |

I'm thinking Tkatchuk or little Nylander with the first pick, somewhere in the 4-6 range. Pens pick could be a defenceman, or Debrincat if no one has picked him. Assuming they reach the playoffs. - BetterCallSaul
I doubt Nylander will be in 4-6 range.
Leafs really need a d-man, and I personally do think Chychrun is the real deal.
Chychrun-Rielly would make a great pairing on D.
If Leafs fall out of top10 range with their pick, I could definitely see them moving the 11-20 pick(s) as well for a top talent drafted in first round / 2nd round 2015 or 2014, or a young starting goalie (Gibson / Vasilevskiy). |

Daesh
ISIS: The militant group, which began as the Iraqi branch of al Qaeda during the U.S. occupation, gained this name after it invaded Syria in 2013. ISIS is short for "Islamic State in Iraq and Syria," or "Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham," which is an old Arabic term for the area.
ISIL: ISIL translates to “Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.” The Levant is a geographical term that refers to the eastern shore of the Mediterranean -- Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Israel and Jordan. It’s the term the U.S. government uses since the "Levant" is apparently a better translation for al-Sham, the Arabic name for the region.
Daesh: This is a term the militant group hates. French President François Hollande has used it since the attacks Friday, and first used it in September 2014. It’s an Arabic acronym for “al-Dawla al-Islamiya fi al-Iraq wa al-Sham.” It can sometimes be spelled DAIISH, Da'esh or Daech, a popular French version. The hacktivist group Anonymous and President Barack Obama have used the term since the deadly terrorist attacks in Paris.
Thanks to Arabic wordplay, it could also be an insult - poohcrumbs
It could also be an insult in English. Daeshbags. |

Babcock was still under contract we had to file the paper work for permission to speak to him , agreeing to give up compensation if we hired Mike Babcock |

Stay the course.. Trade Reimer if Sparks looks like a decent option later in the season.
Sparks/Bernier next Season. dont waste assets on Goalies who are such unknowns. |

What makes you sold on chychrun?
Nylander will be much closer to top 5 than still around at late teens. |

At draft, when you know what position you're going to pick, and it's a 10-20ovr pick, to get Gibson or Vasilevskiy for a 11th-20th overall pick + some mid-level player or pick would be a great deal for the Leafs.
Bernier's done.
Reimer is a great backup, but he needs games to get to his best level; he's not a top20 starting goalie.
Sparks looks like a decent backup goalie as well; to me it seems he's giving up way too many rebounds though which will eventually result in more goals against.
If you can get a almost 100% sure future top15 goalie (which Gibson and Vasilevskiy) seem to be, Leafs should not doubt to do so.
When Bobrovsky was available at Philadelphia, I suggested on the boards to get him - most in here were against the idea of giving up Reimer for him... |

All the loser teams at the bottom are keeping pace so it's still anyone's game to be the worst of the worst. |

I like very much how he knows how to play hockey on different pace levels..
knows when to speed things up, and when to speed things down.
For me, that's the biggest difference between top players (Marner is exceptional in this aspect as well) and 'just ok' NHL players (ie Phaneuf, Kadri). |

Then I may be worried what he sees in him. Not dominating, no improvement from last year. Im not sold.
Imthink the scouts are starting to drop him in the rankings. |
