Exactly. Has to be mutual and Vinny has made very clear -- within the last week or so -- that he has no interest in mutually terminating the contract.
- bmeltzer

I'm not sure who should be more embarrassed at this point. The Flyers for giving him the contract or him thinking he still can somehow play or has anything left to accomplish.

That said the contract is a contract. He is certainly entitled to collect his money. But its sad to see guys cling to the game like this.

Hextall on Vinny just now: "He had a recovery day today. He's been skating a lot lately and it was just one of those days that he needed some time."

Hextall said there's no more to it than that.

Is that a joke Bill? Skating a lot lately? Is the announcement that he'll be starting the rest of the season?

Lennon to me isn't peace and love like he is to some people. I never brought utopian peace and love up. Why did you have to bring it up? John is a musical inspiration and one of my favorite artists. He and the Beatles were almost 75% of what I listened to up until I was like 10.

Imagine isn't the only (frank)ing song he wrote.

Quit being a jackass. There's a time and place. The 35th anniversary on the day he was gunned down is neither the time nor the place.

Good Day Sunshine.

If you were a player and you knew deep down you were pretty much done but then somebody throws an insane offer your way how could you not take it?

Ray Ferraro said that they'll be announcing a back injury and LTIR.
- mayorofangrytown

Bundle him with Umberger and A Mac,suddenly the flyers can afford a Kane and a Toews

Given all the travel/practices for nothing. Not seeing your family. Literally being the highest earning player in NHL history.... I wouldn't give two poops about the money honestly.

So the Vinny announcement tomorrow is to update everyone that he has a stiff back? (frank)ing laughable.

You guys should just abuse LTIR like Snow does. Eric Boulton signed and was immediately put on LTIR and hasn’t even been healthy one day this year yet according to our roster. He’s said to be well liked and they wanted to keep him around and apparently don’t want him to count against the roster limit. Presto, he’s hurt.

I'm looking forward to this game, the flyers always play the Isles tough so it should be entertaining. Kindly don't beat us!

All I know is that it was an odd way to say a player who wasn't scheduled to play took a maintenance day. It was known pretty all along this from morning it had nothing to do with any sort of waivers, conditioning assignment, etc. But as soon as the agent and then Vinny himself said he was fne except for some minor back stiffness, Hextall really had no choice but to speak about it tonight before the game. Still doesn't explain why they were going to wait until tomorrow, UNLESS he got medically evaluated today (which does not seem to be the case).

i don't get why they had to have an "announcement" around that though? Is it going to be just business as usual then tomorrow?

The most dominant player in sports right now imo. I'm hilariously far from being a basketball fan, but man he's just (frank)ing unreal right now.

Love when he just decides he's gonna dribble up the court and make a 3 pointer from like 30 feet out.
