That's your opinion. In reality, I think the league is more concerned that this will end up working out and it will become the norm in the NBA. Now that Colangelo is there, they can give him the credit if it turns around.

I'm sure as poop Hinkie will be fired eventually, but all the groundwork he laid will be the reason the team improves. It will be like the Ed Wade situation where Pat Gillick got the credit for winning a WS with a bunch of players Wade drafted and developed.

- PhillySportsGuy

That doesn't make much sense, if that was true, the league would do what they could to make sure they didn't succeed. Honestly, I don't think the league has much to worry about. Like I said previously, I'm waiting for all of this quality groundwork and all of the moves that have worked to kick in. How will we know that's happening? When they win what, 30 games?

I have no feud with you. We had a spat, said our pieces, had makeup sex, and now we're good.

What ground work? All he did was blow up a team and get picks. It's not hard to pick guys when your drafting top 5. And one of his picks might never play for the Sixers.

Ed Wade did draft some good players but Gillick was the one who found the key players like Lidge and Werth who helped bring the title.

When his Hinkie going to find those players and not just rely on drafting top 5 every year. He needs to find guys like Jimmy Buttler. Paul Geroge. Marc Gasol. DeAndre Jordan. Later picks who had talent and ended up flourishing

- J35Bacher

Saric was the 14th pick and he's looked good in Europe. Jerami Grant has potential and he was a second rounder.

Finding all stars late in the first round or the 2nd round is damn near impossible. That's why he's tanking. 60% of all players picked in the top 5 make an all star game at some point in their career.

Covington would start on a lot of teams. Also, comparing them to the Spurs is a bit dramatic. They're probably the 2nd deepest team in the NBA. Their bench is mostly veterans players too.
- PhillySportsGuy

But why do the Spurs continually have a good team. They never draft high. They maybe tanked one year for Duncan.

But look what they also do. They traded for Leanord, who was a good player but had a high ceiling and he has become an elite player. They found Danny Green, who they actually cut at one point but brought back and he has flourished. Patty Mills. Borias Diaw.

My point is they are able to find talent without having to always be getting the top 5 draft pick. I am sorry but Isaih Cannon, Stauskas, Grant, TJ McConnel aren't NBA players or if they are they are probably last men on the bench types.

Always found it strange he came back to begin with
- PhillySportsGuy

Hey, if you love the game you gotta give it a shot. It's a shame his return wasn't as dramatic and triumphant as Kimmo's. A shame for the player, that is. (frank) the Pens.

If the Sixers wanted to, they could easily jump to 35 wins next season. In your eyes that would look like progress. In reality, it just sets the team back further. That's life in the NBA.

That's ok if your doing it for a year. But you have to find talent in later rounds or on other teams. It's funny all these other teams are able to find talent and build competitive teams. Just not the sixers.

In short, as of Jan 1 nobody will get draft picks for hiring ex-coaches and ex-GMs.
- BulliesPhan87

Is it gone completely? or is it just gone for hiring of ex-coaches/gms?

Sounds like the whole policy has been scrapped, but we'll get specifics later. I think the meetings are going on right now.

It's easy to say "Hey, let's just take the Warriors and Spurs blueprint", but in reality, it's very difficult to find players like Kawhi, Parker and Ginobili after the top 10.

It's like saying "Let's copy the Red Wings blueprint and get Lidstrom, Datsyuk and Zetterberg late in the draft"

A Pronger situation? Anybody know his cap hit? Anything that might help the Pens I am strongly against. Let them continue in turmoil!

I didn't say it is easy. But the Sixers aren't even trying. The players they have on the team are there to purposely lose. They haven't tried to find any players to build with other then draft picks.

$3.75M for this year and next. They're pretty close to the cap, so they'll get $3M+ in space.

3.75 for this year and next. I am 99% sure his contract is not 35+, which means he could actually retire without cap penalties for the Pens...I am not sure if you can just retire mid season and have the contract come off though. either way...good amount of cap relief
