you don't understand cap management, my man. Stankos is going to demand a giant, 7 year contract. Not a good fit for the Sabres at this time. Already set that ship sailing with O'rilley. can't keep handing out those contacts like candy or the team ends up bottlenecked in a few years.
Sabres committed to "their guy"….they're also going to have to pay "their other guys" in a few years…..no room for another, bloated contract. leave that to Toronto or someone else who is desperate. Stamkos will get his payday.

I think Reinhart would have to be the main peice, and not someone like Girgensons. They couldn't justify moving Stamkos for anything short of a potential franchise player IMO

You would think, but this is a guy that's clearly shown thus far that he's leaving Tampa. That doesn't give them a whole lot of leverage to demand the world for him. Either way, if we trade for him or sign him as a UFA we're going to have to pay big time. I don't see the point of trading away so many quality assets for a half season of Stamkos. Because if he really wants to play here then we don't need to trade for him, Terry can just open his wallet next summer.

You're right, that's a lot to give up for one guy. Maybe 5 guys in the league worth that kind of offer. One of them is already here, the other is the player we'd be trading for.

If they are serious about landing Stamkos any player not named Eichel or Risto can be put in the package imo. And if it cost Reinhart, Grigensenons, ennis and a 1st, I'm fine with it.
