It's quality. Tanner wants Oilers only good d-man, and the 1st overall pick. Oiler fans want to ship of Reinhart, Eberle and trash for a complete d-man. Just amazing.
- tomburton99

Yeah but he said he would do a better job then at least ten other gm's in the league

So, you think only qualified people who are good at their jobs work in the NHL? I could probably easily be a better GM than 10 or so guys who are currently employed.

Hell, my cat Pete would be superior to at least Benning and Maloney.

- James_Tanner

Much like your limited understanding on how to apply statistics / statistical analysis to the product on the ice, I am sure you have a very limited idea of what a GM really does to state you could do a better job than at least 10 of them.

James, good D-men are hard to find these days. I don't see how they would get a fair return on OEL especially with the salary cap. Of course every team in the league would want to get him on their roster. I don't know, seems like it would hurt the Yotes for years.

I'm being modest, honestly. Most GMs in hockey have their jobs because they played hockey, not because they are geniuses.

Here's the thing, Mr. "I'm the better GM" Tanner...
You talk about destroying the confidence of your youthful forwards, yet you want to trade away one of your best players that can dish the puck TO said forwards. Offense is generated from the defense OUT, not just from the forwards. Not only that, but what does that say to your team? Play well, and we're going to ship you out because we suck right now, and want to keep that trend going by getting prospects and picks? You need to focus more on the scouting, and grow your own success, not trade valuable players. Trade your aging players to cup contenders for 2nd round and 3rd round picks, and use those picks to get assets, or to move up in the draft. You being the crack GM you are MUST realize this, and you just misspoke, right?

That's a complete false premise. There's a ton of reasons why GM's have their jobs. That a lot have played hockey, is just a part of their experience base.

And you want to trade your best play in a scenario if you were GM. Amazing.

This just proves how clueless you are... to the point where even Garth Snow can run circles around you as GM.

Tough to argue from the track record of many gms, that they didn't deserve their jobs.

Was it possible to do a worse job than mike milbury? U could build a dynasty with the players he traded for peanuts.

Or Steve tambellini? Pick a guy off the streets and I'm sure they could finish last twice in a row and take the highest rated prospect. Them sign some overrated 3rd pairing guy that's out of the nhl in 2 years to ensure those high picks

Lol'ing at the EDM fans who are more willing to give up their 1st right now than Nurse, I'd be a little cautious because that 1st could very well be top 5

Garth Snow can run circles around most GM's in the NHL and this is coming from one of his critics.

Did you just say "lol'ing"?

You're excluded from adult talk for the rest of the day. You did it to yourself.

Besides, an elite defender of oel's caliber dies far more than another 18 year old kid.

Sam Reinhart for OEL.

Buffalo becomes a contender next year with OEL and Ristolainen. Yotes have one of the youngest, brightest center ice in the game

- sbroads24

OEL is an established top pairing defender, Reinhart has a ways to go to prove himself.

Don Maloney was arguably worse than Milbury when he was Islanders GM. I know that's hard for people to grasp and it was a while ago but maloney was the beginning of the clubs demise for a very long time.

Oh totally

Like non existent. Just good conversation

I don't think nuge and our first is giving oel away by any stretch. It's better than Sam Reinhart straight up by a mile

- Ihateallofu

If I was GM of Yotes if the conversation didn't start with Leon and the first I would be on the phone to Buffalo or TO seeing what they want to give.

Edmonton's first and Darnell Nurse.
- James_Tanner

You claim that Arizona should trade OEL because they are likely to waste his prime years on a non cup contender. You then suggest trading him to a team with an even worse chance of winning a cup than Arizona. Smart thinking.

I doubt they give up their Austin Mathews pick either.

Being "arguable" and "hard to grasp" aren't the same bro
