"Crosby has a cup and two gold medals, two Hart Trophies and 2 Art Ross Trophies. You're actinmg like he's won nothing."

I don't get why this debate keeps popping up about Toews/Crosby.. Why can't we all say that they are a couple of the best players in the league?

But please, let me know where I can buy a Sid Hart Trophy or a Sid Art Ross trophy Tshirt, and DAMN! I must have missed the parades for those

So does it hurt when you walk and your knuckles drag on the ground or are they pretty calloused at this point? I have a couple questions about eating raw meat as well. Do you kill the animal first or do you just bite in and wait for them to scream in pain? How is your digestive tract, bowel movements must be difficult? Did you find a mate? How bad was her concussion when you bashed her over the head with your club and dragged he away? Is she a troglodyte too or are the police looking for her? If so have you ever seen her picture on a milk carton? Do you live in the woods or did someone shave all your fur off so you can fit in at a trailer park? I'm so fascinated by your primitive species.

Why don't you just tell us the answers to the questions you are asking? With as much detail as you are speaking, it almost seems like you are speaking from experience.

Crosby durability is an issue. Toews is a champion and his durability is not in question. Same can be said about Kopitar. The best players lead by example. They inspire the team around them and make other players better. There is no question that Crosby elevates wingers to their best scoring totals with his gifted playmaking, but as a captain, he is not elite.

Crosby has received an obnoxious amount of media attention ever since his debut, and issues do tend to magnify. However, his reputation as a “whiner” and a “diver” don’t look good hanging on the supposed world’s best.

Perhaps the most polarizing moment came at the Winter Classic. Crosby’s Penguins were battling Toews’s Blackhawks in an exciting matchup when Crosby went down perhaps too easily. Toews leapt up on the bench cursing the fall. He went over to Crosby as soon as possible to let him know what he saw and recommended Crosby stay on his feet. Instead of Crosby standing up to Toews he instead chose to play dumb. At that moment it felt as if Toews had truly surpassed Crosby as an all-around player, captain, and winner. http://www.thesportster.c...st-in-the-world/?view=all

Those "reputations" are invented by fans of other teams that would do anything to have Crosby on their team and express their frustrations by attacking his character instead. And that one example you have there is pretty weak. I'm sure if Toews wasn't mic'd up for network TV he would have behaved in the exact same way right? It's fun to just spew BS out of your face without even exploring context or motivations. Good for you, you're everything that is wrong!

How does it seem I have experience when it's obvious I have no idea the answers to those questions. Plus my spelling, grammar, and diction are much more advanced than a 3 year olds. I'm an educated person and because of my occupation I am curious about the human/ almost human condition. Life is about striving to constantly find answers to whatever questions that cross your mind. You should try it instead of trying to childishly turn things around when there's no real sensical way to do that.

If you constantly have to ask the question, Is Crosby the best?, then he must not be. It's like an insecurity you guys have that needs to be validated. It's really pretty sad.

yell but he's a cry baby and he fell and hurt his neck in the columbus game.

Im sure your neck would hurt too if you got cross checked on the neck.

Its not like dubinsky is a weak player, the guy is pretty strong and its still a cross check, theres a reason its called a penalty.

A few things so that we can all move on with our lives;

During the 'Sid is the best' era of the late 2000s/early 2010s, Niklas Lidstrom was the best player in the NHL.

Carey Price is currently the best player in the NHL.

P. Kane is the best offensive forward in the game and the most skilled.

Defending is a skill. The best defensive forward is still Bergeron.

If the Penguins could have done more for Crosby than trade for Hossa, Guerin, Iginla, Neal, and Kessel, let me know. Chicago has traded away comparable players during their current arc and Kane is on what, Game 21 of the streak?

Your second sentence ruins your smart first sentence. Do you have a "we won the Cup because Toews is the best player in the NHL shirt?" No? That's because the Blackhawks won the Cup, led by Toews. I would argue that winning the Cup has less to do with the argument of who is the best then the Ross and Hart do. Remember, Toews and Crosby don't build the teams around them. Neither should get credit for who they're surrounded by.

Crosby and Toews have been 1a and 1b for a while now (excluding this season so far, of course). Do you think either of them gives a poop which is a and which is b?

Crosby has taken a beating over his career........not like Gretzky who had Semenko beating on anyone who looked sideways at Wayne. Come playoffs or any important game Sid will be the best on the ice......Im sure he is just tired of the crap he puts up with game in and game out, ie the cross-check to the neck/head in Columbus.

Serious question, if the B's beat the Hawks in '12, do people argue for Bergeron being the best? He has the advanced stats to support it (and more 70 pt seasons than Towes!). People seem to be giving individuals too much credit for team accomplishments. As of this moment P Kane is the most dominant player in the NHL but there are literally 15 guys who could take that crown with a hot month. I really don't think there is a clear cut #1 anymore.

Crosby is clearly capable of once again being among the NHL elite when it comes to scoring...possession numbers etc.

His skillset is right there with the best of them and has not fallen off.

I see his problem being two-fold
1) he does not appear to be motivated
2) finding the right linemates for him is difficult

At times his drive appears to be...well less than what have come to expect from him. It might not be the whole reason for his scoring woes, but it certainly hasn't helped either.

What I think is most troubling about Crosby...and has been so for most of his NHL career...is that he does not always play well with others.

Perhaps this one thing is what makes him less like the best player in the world than people would like to think.

The best player I ever saw play was Mario Lemieux...in his prime...of course.

Granted...the game has changed and even a player like Lemieux in his prime might have trouble scoring in today's NHL...but the thing about Mario was that he could play with anybody...ANYBODY.

Mario would look at who he was with...and then figure out what to do.

I don't see that in Crosby.

I see that more in Malkin than I do in Crosby.

In my opinion, Crosby's most successful scoring period in the NHL has come largely at a time when he played with guys that figured out how to play with him...and not the other way around.

I think the perfect winger for Crosby was Marian Hossa. A smart 200 foot player that figured out how to play with other players. Of course, Hossa wasn't here long...and is not longer the same player he was back then...but I think he would have been the best fit for Crosby.

So I think now the real question is...does Crosby need to change...or are there guys on the team that can figure out how to play with him? Can they get a 2015 version of Marian Hossa (2008) from anyone?

Kunitz and Dupuis figured out how to play with Sid...but both are out of their prime and the likelyhood of finding the kind of success they have in the past seems small.

When I look at the Penguin's line-up...I just don't see the guys that can get it done with Sid.

Maybe he needs to change his game.

I know one thing for sure...he doesn't shoot enough...and usually that's a sign of a player that is not confident in his ability to score (granted, he has probably always deferred to passing more in his NHL career...but still).

They may have. I don't think it would've lasted very long. There were a few months where people were saying that Kopitar was the best player. I think it's always a hard claim to make when the sheer offense of output is missing.

I dont think Crosby is in the conversation before Malkin. And Malkin is just top five at best.

Toews has been the best 200ft all around player in the league since 2010. Nobody ever claimed Toews was the best scorer. That has been Sidney Crosby. Now, its Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn and Patrick Kane as the 3 best scorers in the league. Tavares is not far behind them.
