I'd rather not trade him either. Plus I think they would get someone better than Pysyk.

They sort of already made a trade for a potential middle pair guy in Reinhart

I think they make a bigger trade

Yea imo it's more likely that Eberle is dealt as part of a package than dealt for one.

I guess my issue is that I know any of those deals would start with Pysyk, so if I am having to trade a few pieces, I dont want to give them up for Eberle. I think he has peaked and is in the down turn (which could be wrong). I dont want to trade a bunch of young players / picks for him. We are not at the rental stage of our rebuild and trading away too much youth for players already in there downturn is not in our current best interest. I can't wait until we are at that point, but we are not there yet.

I do think Eberle has played for a bad team for his career (so far) but I would rather a different player. I see how Ennis gets thrown off the puck now and I dont want more of the smaller players that can't play tough in the corners (cause it only gets harder in the playoffs).

I like Ennis, but I am ready to deal him too, only for a current piece to play today.

I think in general I'd like to stay way from anything that has to do with Edmonton. I don't want their stink in our locker room.

Ennis for Fowler

Add pieces on either side to make it work.

He hasn't scored 30+ since 11/12 and has missed more games than Kane this season. He's on the decline of his career age-wise and obviously injury-prone.
- stashu

How is he "obviously injury prone"? The shoulder injury this year that caused him to miss 13 games was the first significant injury of his career except for an appendectomy in his rookie year, which is hardly fair to consider a hockey injury.

He played 69 regular season games as a rookie (appendectomy), 78 games in 2011/12 (34g 42a 76p), all 48 in the lockout year (16g 21a 37p), 80 in 2013/14 (putting up 28g 37a 65p) and 81 in 2014/15 (putting up 24g 39a 63p).

He's in the prime of his career right now and I'd argue his declining numbers the past few seasons have more to do with the fact that Edmonton as a whole was really, really bad the past few years.

It won't be announced anywhere near tomorrow, but there's no doubt in my mind that Pegula, Brandon, and Co. plan on using the fact that they will already have a rink built for the USA-Canada game on New Year's Eve as leverage to get the Winter Classic in Buffalo on New Year's Day.

Can't, now you need someone to fill that spot on RW. Unless you're picking top 5 (preferably top 3) in which case your 1st rounder gets you someone who could potentially step into that role right away.

Trade 2016 1st rounder + to get the top pairing/top line guy you want.

Eberle is severely overrated. Id much rather go after Yakupov.

Eberle = Horrible idea

Sabres have to find a way to rid themselves of Moulson. Pysyk should stay unless trading him actually brings in a legitimate line mate for Eichel. Eberle isn't one in my opinion.

Ennis hasn't been anything near a top line player thus far.

I didn't say he's a top line player. But he is a top 6 forward so if you're going to move the one top 6 RW you have you'd better have a plan to replace that.

I know he's far from perfect (tough start this year as well) but a top 6 guy at 4.6 mil is a pretty good thing to have.

Just curious if you could explain your reasoning... Eberle's scored 60+ points in 3 out of his 4 full seasons in the league and has averaged 0.78 PPG across his career to date. Yakupov on the other hand hasn't broken more than 33 points in a single season and has averaged 0.46 PPG across his career. Eberle's had the advantage of playing with better players (mainly in RNH & Hall), but the argument can be made that Yakupov certainly has had multiple chances to earn a spot on the the top line and has repeatedly failed to do so.

I'm not bashing you at all, just curious as to why you think Yakupov is a better fit. There's quite a few people who are still pretty high on Yakupov, and I don't quite understand why after his largely disappointing career to date.

He's another player like Girgensons who's going to be more valuable to us on our roster than as part of a trade.
