McCabe has been better than Pysyk

Eberle or EKane, Who would you rather have on the Sabres?

I don't believe he did. But we're saying that we want to trade a, by some of our words, a 5th defenseman who has faced easy competition with 1 goal and only plays 16 minutes per night for a top 6 winger who has a high of 34 goals. It's their surplus, yes. But he's still a good player. Is he all world? No. But that's the price IMO. If Pysyk was a surefire top 4 maybe it wouldn't be that way but we can't undervalue to be okay with trading him and then expect him to fetch a great return as well.

Also, every trade involving Murray we end up over paying what we say we will. The 1st thrown into the Myers deal is what comes to mind.

- Zschalberg

When that trade first leaked (close to the trade) I thought we were getting the 1st and I thought there was no question to take the deal. When the 1st switched sides, I think it became for fair, but I still don't think he overpaid.

Wow does this post completely contradict itself.

The 1st paragraph says don't do it. The 2nd one says they should.

So, what you're saying is really you have no opinion on it. Got it!

- HonkFortheGoose

No, I'm saying that while I do have doubts he'll work out in Buffalo, if they can get him for a reasonable enough deal they should pull the trigger, because even if it doesn't work out they can likely recoup their losses trading him away in the future. His stock is at an all-time low right now and if he doesn't work out in Buffalo, it won't really be held against him. No offense intended to Buffalo fans, but if he doesn't work out in Buffalo it wouldn't really be held against him - he went from one bad team to another. There would still be plenty of GM's out there who would be quite willing to take him on.

Pysyk may be #5 right now, but Franson' only around another year (if he lasts that long). Not to mention he's only 30 seconds ATOI/g behind Franson
- stashu

But he hasn't played top 4 yet is my point. He's a potential top 4 player and a potential good one at that. I like him, I don't want to trade him at all. Just like I didn't want to trade Zads. Could turn out that the trade works out for the best even though I'd be against it originally like the O'Reilly deal.

If you have someone to replace him then sure. Guhle hasn't done anything in the NHL yet but he's looked good against his age group. But if that person is Weber then please no.

I think we overpaid still. The 2 prospects weren't throwaway prospects and the pick made it sting a bit. That said, I still like the deal.

Kane just because the style of play he brings. Means I don't have to put a Foligno on a high line just to have Rob Ray say the line has grit

Pysyk played for the Oil Kings, he's a familiar face in EDM. There were rumors before that they liked him
- sbroads24

I don't mind trading Pysyk, but it would have to be for something better than Eberle.

In a package for Hall / Nugget-Hopkins? I would do that. No for Yakapov.

So when you say better than Eberle do you not think a 60-70 point right winger is good? Or is it because he is seen as a one dimensional player?

Granted he is in a major slump this year but we aren't talking about Risto we are talking about Mark Pysyk...and I like Pysyk

I'd rather not trade him either. Plus I think they would get someone better than Pysyk.

They sort of already made a trade for a potential middle pair guy in Reinhart

I think they make a bigger trade

The Hockey News (don't laugh) has an article talking about the potential spots Eberle could go. They mention Anaheim with Fowler, New Jersey with Larrson, and the Wild with Dumba. Is Pysyk at their level? 88 total games, I don't know if he is yet.

Right? lol I don't see Pysyk higher than 5D anymore, McCabe passed him and now i see him as a 5/6 guy which isnt bad. But i think a lot of us (some more than others....Goose) were expecting 2-4 guy and i don't see that happening. McCabe is younger, playing more, and against better lines.

Pysyk isn't even in the same book as Fowler let alone the same sentence. LOL I don't think he is on the same level as any of them honestly. So we can rule out Pysyk for Eberle. LOL

Do you expect a 5D to get a 70 point guy? Because I don't.

7 mil is different then 6 mil

stamkos = 7 letters
eberle = 6 letters

eberle gets 6 mil per season

To me, Pysyk is still a 3/4 guy who if you have him as your 5, it means you defense is very strong.

This. I love Pysyk for what he is, but let's not pretend he's going to get us the world. Don't want to overvalue our guys

I guess my issue is that I know any of those deals would start with Pysyk, so if I am having to trade a few pieces, I dont want to give them up for Eberle. I think he has peaked and is in the down turn (which could be wrong). I dont want to trade a bunch of young players / picks for him. We are not at the rental stage of our rebuild and trading away too much youth for players already in there downturn is not in our current best interest. I can't wait until we are at that point, but we are not there yet.

I do think Eberle has played for a bad team for his career (so far) but I would rather a different player. I see how Ennis gets thrown off the puck now and I dont want more of the smaller players that can't play tough in the corners (cause it only gets harder in the playoffs).

I like Ennis, but I am ready to deal him too, only for a current piece to play today.
