if I went all in to get 1 player, it would be hall, not eberle

the cost would be much more, but......

hall-ror-skunk
kane-eichel-girgen

that would be a solid top 6

No to Eberle. I don't want to inject a player who is accustomed to losing on a regular basis to the core of this team.

I don't think we need a 5'11'' 189 lbs guy here. We got smaller guys already (Ennis)

No for me to an Edmonton trade unless we're talking about McDavid (Which I know wouldn't happen) I got no Interest in bringing in players from a losing organization here.

Buffalo worked too hard to change the culture and it's definitely on the upswing.

- mattsox

I get it, and agree...but I think the culture has already changed..eberle for me has a lot of talent and I can live with that in the proper culture

Is he though? Moulson was putting up sick numbers too playing with great talent, so why not just do that?

Besides, he's 25, it's all downhill now, so why give up the assets?

At 23rd in the league overall Buffalo is right about where they should be after coming off of consecutive 30th-place finishes. In fact one could say that they might be a little ahead.

We are 3 pts ahead of the Oil.

The type of player I would like is a Blake Wheeler type. A bigger built body with lots of speed. A 60-70 point per year player who won't hurt you in your own end.

He could keep up with Eichel. Obviously I wish he was 2 or 3 years younger but I think that's the type of player Murray would want to add over an Eberle type.

They've played 1 more game than we have as well though. Their defense still needs work, as evidenced by the fact that the goalie that looked all world in place of Lundqvist last year looks below average this year.

Consider this...

The Sabres are 7 places higher in the standing with their #1 goaltender having played a total of 30 minutes so far this year.

I would like a true RWer to play in the top 6...

Skunk and Girgensons are both centers by trade. But I like where your head is at with the idea of Hall.

Just wanted to put this here from TSN for those who were wondering what if US and Canada aren't in the same pool:

With whatever pools the International Ice Hockey Federation determines, the host may petition for one team to be moved from one pool to another, virtually guaranteeing the desired matchup.

Also, no to Eberle if it costs them Pysyk. We're so thin on D and those kids in Junior or college, no matter how good they look down there, are still only kids playing against kids. We've seen Pysyk play in the NHL now and he's no world beater, but he can definitely hold his own and play a solid NHL game.

Unless Ennis gets traded for Fowler, in which case I'd be all for it, just don't think we'd have the assets.

it would be a massive overpayment

ennis,pysyk,a few prospects, picks etc

but it would define the top 6 for the next 5 years

You and I had the same feelings on him, but that ship has sailed time to look for other options. Besides we all know how a bunch of people feel about him haha

This would be a huge mistake IMO.

Is it? Eberle is a good top 6 player, Pysyk is playing the role of a 5th-6th guy right now.

I think we would all agree that Risto, McCabe and Bogosian are ahead of him on the depth chart, so at worst we are moving a 3 or 4 guy for a young top 6 scorer

If Ennis gets moved for Fowler then I would be okay with trading Pysyk but only if Ennis is moved for a 3 or 4 D that will be here for a while.

Hall will cost you Risto imo.

I have no interest in Eberle.

I don't see a good fit here with Edm. Hall or RNH will cost and I don't know if we want to move valuable pieces of our re-build to do it.

Ullmark hasn't looked ungodly, and Johnson in Johnson. If anything it'll be Lehner/Ullmark but I can't see any scenario where Ullmark is playing more unless Lehner comes back and poops the bed (Which is entirely possible)

I think if you can get that value for Pysyk, you do it in a heartbeat. And I'm a Pysyk fan.

People are starting to over rate our 5th defensemen. He's got 1 point and is playing 16 minutes a night. He's also 23 years old, not 19 or 20
