Actually, We've only been dead last at season end twice . 2010 and 2011. - Jeropotato
That's only cause we took one (or two) for the team the last few seasons |

Sadly, there is no trade that is going to make the Oilers better in the short term. Teams who are trading players during the season or into the trade deadline are not moving young players with term. They are moving underachievers, futures, spare parts, or any type of player on the last year of their deal (Hamonic is an exception to this)
They have two choices. a)Stay the course and hope they can improve during the off-season, or b) blow it up for futures (While retaining perceived 'key' players) and restart rebuilding.
It seems like some people here envision this scenario where the Oilers blow it up and somehow end up a better team on the other end. Blowing it up only guarantees at least a couple more years of mediocrity.
(and to all the Leafs fans ragging on Oilers fans, just remember that you live in the so called 'center of the hockey universe' and have not won anything in five decades. You do not have a leg to stand on in the pathetic team argument) |

I think it's gotta be centered around Jones. Ellis is a great Dman on a great contract, but I have a tough time seeing him leading this D corps to any semblance of success. Jones brings the potential for more that I think Ellis has gone and passed. If they're looking for a gritty forward or two (which I'm pretty sure they are), I imagine they make that move using a guy like Eberle or the 1st. - MaximumBone
You don't think Nurse and Klefbom have top line potential? |

They might...I think 2-3 years is still needed to fully answer tho, and thats the problem. The Oilers are expecting Nurse and Klef to be the top 2 D right now, and their surprised theyre in 30th place. |

I believe they had a segment on top left wings during the intermission of one of the Oilers games the past week or so. I think they went with most points since 2013-2014 and it went:
1. Benn
2. Ovie
3. Patches
4. Sedin
5. Hall
If they would have went back to 2012-2013 it would have been:
1. Ovie
2. Benn
3. Hall
4. Sedin & Patches tied - EastCoastOiler

you can laugh all you want, check the guys stats. Granted, his time in this discussion is waning, but as of right now, he's in the discussion. |

Last couple of years have been tough with the new format. Having to get through both Chicago and St Louis just to get to the Conference finals is just stupid |

Is Oilers' management sure about being done "evaluating"? Seems a little rash to me. They ought to give it another 5-7 years just to be safe. - Snowblind
