Wow a top four of Brodie, Gio, Hamilton, and Hamonic would be great. Wideman will go to Columbus or maybe Kris Russell will have a reunion with them. Torts would love him for his shot blocking ability

Because no gm is being forced to trade for Hamm. Snow is thr only one who is in the unfortunate position of having to move a player that is requesting to move to a specific location for personal reasons. Trading players isnt as easy as saying ok you play here now. These guys have to move their families put their kids in new schools find a new house etc. You think the gm dealing wih Snow is going to do Snow a favor and just uproot one of his core players just because? No. The only way you uproot a guy in this situation is if you get more value in return.

Yeah, the Jets are under NHL .500 and look like a lock for 6th place in the Central while the Oilers and Flames are tied for DFL in the league. No need for those teams to make changes.

Meh....he'll be okay in a few years...but I won't surprised if he's just a bottom pair D like the other man child D drafted too early like Gudbranson, Ekblad, and Myers.
- Jeropotato

Ekblad?

Oh and if the Oilers have a finish in the bottom 5 I'll give everyone here a hundred doll hairs

Is that right well then why don't you enlighten us on the biding war you said was possible ( there is none) the reason on how or why the story was leaked. So far you have yet to provide any reasonable scenario's and just insulted people. I don't see why he wants to be traded should even be entered into the dicussion. He said its personal and it should've left at that. But then again you can't reason or dicuss with stupid.
- JETSWIN

I didnt say there was a bidding war I said its possible there is one. You said no there wasnt it would have been reported by McKenzie bcs all bidding wars are public knowledge. I should have stopped replying when you said that and when you didnt even know why Hamonic was leaving in the first place. Now youre an authority on the subject. Also, I didnt insult anyone you're the one insulting bcs you knew you were wrong ten posts ago and youre trying to save face.

Just asking, U don't think there's a bidding war between teams for the service of a young top 4 dman on a extremely friendly contract then I have a few bridges to sell u......

basically this is true, but who says Snow actually has to follow through in that circumstance. Travis has publicly stated he loved being an Islander and that he will not tie Garth Snows hands in this. He is a very bright principled young man who has sponsored 5 fatherless children to every Islander game in his career. His entire message to these children is to be a positive role model, to children who face the same tribulations he's overcome. he would never sit out or force things because it would make a lie out of everything he's told those kids.

Garth Snow out of great respect has tried to accommodate Travis' wishes, but Travis isn't an idiot, he knows that other GM's haven't offered fair value.....That's why Travis has said he didn't leak the story....its his way of saying, he's aware of what is going on. Garth Snow in his heart of hearts doesn't want to trade Hamonic, but out of respect for the young man he has tried.

In a way other GM's have played right into Snows hands, because as long as they keep lowballing him, Snow can honestly tell Travis I'm trying but nobody is offering fair value.....Travis knows his value, he also knows his team and his place on it....So he wont expect a trade until that changes.

fans of other teams don't have a clue who Travis is, what his moral compass tells him....its why he made the request in the first place. because he feels a great responsibility to his Mom and Siblings, but its that same moral compass that wont let him hold out or give less than his best....

fans of other teams are basically using wishful thinking, but Islander fans have known Travis for 7 years. they understand whats behind this. Honestly the longer this goes on, the less likely Travis will be traded at all. because he is too principled to be a pawn to other GM's

WELL SAID TRAVIS HAMONIC = CLASS ACT! AND ONE OF THE MOST UNDERRATED DEFENSEMAN IN THE LEAGUE >> GARTH SNOW = CLASS ACT AND ONE OF THE MOST UNDERAPPRECIATED AND UNDERESTIMATED GM's IN THE NHL.
- temmer29

He automatically makes a team's defense stronger just by putting on their jersey. He also has one of the MOST cap-friendly contracts in the league. He has been a strong presence on the Isles blue line and in the community as well. If this story hadn't leaked; no one would ever questions TH's dedication to Garth and the Isles. He is still going out there every game and playing his hardest. Anyone who says that he is doing that to impress Winnipeg and other clubs don't know the heart of this warrior. I will be sad once he is gone and so will the Islanders Fan Base. When he originally signed the contract he wanted to be sure he would retire as an Islander but knew then that he was in no position to ask for a no-trade clause. He is a class act and I wish him the best regardless of where and when he goes. An Islanders insider mentioned that Garth was willing and still is willing to let TH handle any personal matters and take the time off needed if there was a need. GS and TH are both top class individuals.

They definitely don't have to make a trade for Travis. Only Snow is in that posiion where travis has requested to move. Snow wants a d back of equal value, he isnt going to get it. Most likely scenario is that he either takes a loss on a d for d trade. Takes 2 or 3 lesser pieces for Hammonic or does a forward for d swap and then had to move said forward for a d sfterwards. It makes no sense why any team whether they needed to make a change or not would give the return Snow and the Islanderd fans would like back. I think Travis is a fantastic d man, I love the Islanders and am not questioning Travis or Garth as I think they are both stand up guys. But you need some fresh air if you think this trade can work out how Garth wants it to. Especially where its public that Travis wants to move. This is a greasy business and this is how it works. Every GM knows how good Travis is and know that he will help any team he goes to but they also know the situation Garth is in and will not bend over backwards to meet Garths demands . You eithet take the best deal offered to you or you dont. Does Snow have the option to not move Travis? Ofcourse, but Travis will most likely be requesting personal time to be with his family. If conditions get worse Travis ciuld take a personal leave absense to be closer to home. Garth as a stand up guy will allow this ofcourse and Im sure Travis when ready would come back and be better than ever and reture as an Islander.

This makes ABSOLUTELY ZERO SENSE. So the isles are going to give up a 20+ min a night dman, for a center, on a team who already has 6 centermen??? Yeah, No

Well then Snow just won't move him no matter what poor Travis wants. No player would ever handcuff a GM into getting ripped off in a trade - it's not happening. But I guarantee you, whether it's this season or the offseason, Snow will get what he wants because teams will trade for a top 4 dman & they will give up value to land him.

There isn't much of one, I don't think....or there is but it's started way lower than You or the Islanders brass expected, or Garth simply is expecting too much. I think at this point probably Edmonton is no longer involved. Anyway, I'm starting to wonder how much of the limited teams scenerio is bullpoop seeing as how It went from West Can and Minnesota, to adding Colorado, and now Columbus, and if Geography was a concern why wasn't Toronto on the list?

Anyway, it was very exciting for a while but it's apparent Snow isn't that eager to move him so teams will like

Do urself a favor, don't think.....
U can speculate whatever you want, bottom line is Snow is in NO RUSH to move him, let that statement sink it to others as well.....
Done talking bout Hammer w/other fanbases who think that a young top 4 dman has no interest to other teams, just like the world is a giant flat land....

That's what I mean...if there's no urgency to get things done, why would teams continue to call? All I'm saying is the longer this takes, the more time it gives teams to explore other options. I think some teams by now realize theyre not gonna get it done , and so move on ( like the Oilers). Take a team out of the running and it becomes less of a bidding war somewhat.

Besides, I think Hamonic finishes the year and says to himself...' This wasn't so bad'...and just remains an Islander.

Quite possible, but it seems family issues take precedent and Snow is willing to oblige the players wishes. the bidding will continue until a team is desperate enough to realize their able to acquire a top 4 dman..

That's what I'm saying. Unless a team is looking to upgrade the position talent wise and contract wise....but then why would Garth take a lesser talent or pooptier contract?
Or has Garth softened on his position specific ask?

I'm not sure what he's thinking, but he wont settle on poop for sure...
Sorry but just going thru some of the desired geographical teams, Hamonic immediately helps all to most teams on the cap + the talent alone... Trust me, I don't play the homer card either...

This will become a game of chicken, who will blink 1st...

If he's looking for a top 4 right hand shot D man it's gonna be a downgrade in either talent or an inferior cap hit.

There's no middle ground with you.

If they don't agree that he's worth your ridiculous proposals, then they must think he's worthless. No middle ground!!

You can endlessly espouse his contract and how much you love him while ignoring any mitigating factors if you choose, but don't say we're biased while the same applies to u
