[quote=sammy87 If you're an opposing coach, your game plan is to run 58, 87, and 71. Odds are they will take dumb penalties and there won't be any retaliation.

Absolutely. We'll see more of this as the season progresses (into Mar and round 1). We don't have a Dave Semenko, let alone a Kevin Stevens, or McSorely type.

For the group of folks (media, bloggers, etc) that promote the fighting/ goons don't deter, I think it's equally naive, to believe that league suspensions will do so.....

There is an endless supply of marginal NHL talent that is willing to injure a player for a paycheck.

clearly a dirty play ... worth 2 games suspension, imo.

You're right I dont hate Malkin. I think he is the most talented player in the league. Pens problems is just too much high level talent and not enough to spread down the roster. They are too small, slow and weak.

Dupes, Kuni, Fehr, Bonino needed to earn their pay check tonight. Espicially Dupes and Kuni. Neither can do what they did 3-4 yrs ago, so they need to change their game.

i agree with you on the diagnosis of the problem. however, i do think that if things wouldve been done right, it could have worked with both 87 and 71.

there were times when they needed to step up and do more, yes. but i dont think they automatically precluded the construction of a team around them. i know this isnt the issue right now, and its been beat to death, but i do like going back and forth with you with your view on things.

That is total BS. It's worse to get sucked into a sideshow when the game is on the line. This is an NHL issue not a Penguins one and if Goofinsky is suspended then the Jackets should have to forfeit this win because he made the play to end it and he should have been tossed out of the game.

I know you've probably calmed down by now, but what you have said above is just the fire of losing a close & dirty battle. Dubinsky is is a very good player & funnily enough scored a SHG last year to beat us - I think he circles every Pens game in a highlighter pen & can't wait to play us. This is his highlight game & he loves the challenge of being given a green light to be an absolute grub. Now he got through the game & is a hero but will pay a price for going too far. What happened was penalised & the game finished with a result that should not be changed!!

Now if the NHL is serious attempting to injure someone is worth how many 'weeks'? The NHL has the answer & I'm sure a precedent is already being looked at.

Another thing, seems like some games you only have to sneeze at a goalie & it's penalised????

Has Brandilynn been suspended before? (Did you see what I did there?)

How the hell was that loss on Crosby?
- Thorny

35% possession. Terrible turnovers. Including the one that led to the overtime winner for jackets.

He definitely played a big part in not winning. But then again he about got a broken neck from a very dirty dbag.

You mean, that game winning goal where 9 got juked out of his pants? That play where 12 lost his man on the game winner? Odd, I saw 87 boxing his man out on the play, while the other two lost the game...but yeah, I can see where 87 was at fault....I mean, its 3 on 3..so you give him 9 and 12...whatever you do, don't give him 58 and 19, or 58 and 71....hell, I would have been happy with 8 and 19. The coach baffles me beyond belief. His line combos are horrible and what is the point in having 87, 71 and 81 out there together, if you have 4 also?

As opposed to what there Sammy? Going after him and forgetting to play the game? If it was 4-1 for either team Dubinsky would have got his a$$ kicked, it wasn't and any little run at that little POS could have resulted in the penalty that cost them the game. IT's not the heart of the team that is in question here at all, it's the legitimacy of the NHL for allowing that to go on with only a mild slap on the wrist to Dubinsky and nothing to Hartnall for Spearing Fleury out of making a save, This is just a failure of the NHL across the board. The Penguins responded the way they should have given the circumstances. The last thing they should have done is have that POS goad them into a stupid penalty or 2. Use your head when you type comments man most of the time you sound stupid.

Two things, one-the Pens were outplayed start to finish and still collected a point. Two-I needed some Brandilynn got your arse kicked so I went to Hockeyfights and he really isn't tough at all unless he can hit you from behind. Jarkko Ruuttu was especially satisfying as Ruuttu isn't a fighter by any stretch and Brandilynn was crying big time at the end of that one. Luke Richardson one punched him and even Mike Richards tuned him up.

I remember when Tanner Glass challenged him and he tucked tail and ran. He's one of those tough guys that only acts tough to smaller players.

Saw the game late on GCL. CBJ are obviously a bunch of scum bags but they're doing what torts wants so Pens need to get used to it. Having a PP that can score helps alleviate teams being scum bags. Pens PP is a joke right now. Overall the Pens got severely outplayed by a basement dweller and Fleury is yet again the only reason they earned any points.

Engo had too much self control, but I'd take anyone over Scuds at this point. We have no chance of moving Scuds. None.

I still prefer the Pittsburgh Blue from the 70's.

Can anyone tell me if in 1975, the Penguins wore white jerseys that mirrored their roard jersey format. By this, I mean the only sleeve stripes were by the wrist area and nothing on the bicep/shoulder area. I feel like I have seen the odd picture of a player in such jerseys( Innis and Larouche come to mind) but only a few. It seems the Penguins frequently changed their look and perhaps they only wore the design I'm thinking of for half a season.

Thanks,

we have a chance... gm's ain't as degrading towards player as we the fans are no matter how much we wish they were. scuds can be traded especially to bottom dwellers and teams that are desperate for veteran d men's. honestly I hope gm jr is hugging the phone calling shero constantly to try to get rid of scuds cuz that is his best chance.

I have no doubt that Scuds is technically moveable but his NTC makes it impossible. He won't sign off on a trade to Clg or NJ unless we abuse him and send him to WBS which we won't do.

Didn't watch the game last night but it sounds like same old same old? We look to have turned a corner and then regress the next game and start at square one? Great....
