I know approximately what Schenn's value is and its not a top 9 forward, 1st, and high end prsopect I can tell you that. Schenn is not 2010 Mike Richards.

If Hexy wants three pieces teams are going to offer three pieces of middling value. I'd rather have one player or one pick tbh.

So it's not possible that one component of the deal, such as the draft pick or the prospect component could be of high quality. Say a top prospect, a 3rd round pick, and an adequate 3rd line forward? That's not possible?

Colin McDonald really?

Can't take a chance calling up a legit prospect. His development might be stunted like we are seeing with ghost. So we get the stiff du jour.

No.

21st overall pick by Ottawa in this year's draft. C prospect with some great offensive upside and plays a 200ft game.

- hereticpride

He sticks in my mind from watching the draft. He was interviewed right after his selection, and he seemed dumber than a bag of hammers. Whatever his hockey IQ is, and I'm sure it's high, he had the eloquence of a less intellectually impressive Carl Spackler....

worse #1 overall?

Patrik Stefan, 1999, Atlanta Thrashers
Doug Wickenheiser, 1980, Montreal Canadiens
Alexandre Daigle, 1993, Ottawa Senators
Rick DiPietro, 2000, New York Islanders
Gord Kluzak, 1982, Boston Bruins

and as good as the 1990 draft was, imagine being the Islanders who too Scott Scissons 6th overall.

- nastyflyergirl

Gotta be DiPietro.

The other guys were at least consensus top-talents. Heatley and Gaborik were the top-guys in 2000, and the Isles not only ignored that, but dumped BOTH of their goaltenders prior to the selection (Weekes and Luongo) to get the kid playing right away. One of Milbury's true golden moments.

Not to even mention that contract.

I wanted Straka called up and put on the first line, but I'm satisfied with what Hextall said since he makes it sound like he'll get his chance later this season.

"He's getting better than he was the last two years; he's paying the price more," Hextall said before the Flyers played in Ottawa on Saturday night. "There's a lot of good things happening for him."

Asked whether he was considering bringing the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Straka to the big-league club, Hextall said: "That will have to play out. He's got a lot of ability, a lot of speed, and a pretty good knack for scoring. He's starting to figure out the little nuances of the game, and understanding where he has to go to score."

Hextall paused.

"Again, like with any kid, he's got a little bit of momentum now, and we want to see him continue to get better rather than: 'Oh, he's had a good month, so let's just move him up.' Sometimes you stop that momentum, and the player never grows into what you want him to grow into."

Let the kids play. It's not a bad thing to get NHL experience.

Sounds similar to what someone else posted, to explain why Straka wasn't called up!

Crosby has 11 points in 20 games and apparently has fallen out with Mario Lemieux.

He needs to pull a Patrick Roy and demand a trade to Philadelphia just to rub it in Lemieux's face.

Suddenly, you'd be hard pressed to find a Philadelphia fan who ever said anything bad about him.

Are you kidding? You wouldn't be able to keep his jersey in the store if he ended up here.

Yeah, not sure about the whole falling out scenario. I'm sure Mario is looking to Crosby to get the Pens clicking again and producing, but I doubt they are looking into trading him.

Maybe Sid's not happy with Mario (and Burkle) for wanting to sell the team.

And considering that the Pens are on the market, neither Sid nor Geno are going anywhere until after a sale happens.

Maybe it's because everyone and their brother knows the Pens should have traded albino Shrek three years ago to address their utter lack of depth.

Straka-Coots-Jake
Read-Laughton-Simmer
VDV-PEB-Leier

God forbid Cooter gets to play with some offensive talent because you know he needs no help there, or that Laughton gets more playing time than stalwarts VDV and PEB aka Hakstol go to guys.

That's about as good as the lineup can get. Straka would maybe switch with Read, but otherwise...from your mouth to Hak's ear
