Pouliot got a 5 year $20 mil deal...that's a far cry from the 3 year $7 mil number we are bandying about. Or Fayne's 4 year $14 mil deal. That hypothetical contract isn't in the vicinity of those. In fact it'd be smart cap management in comparison. If Raffl got a deal like that I'd agree with you, but he won't and we aren't suggesting to give him one

He's not remotely close to irreplaceable, but he's also not so dime a dozen that he could be replaced with a scrap heap player or another European player. Possibly? Sure. But not a given. If he is resigned at fair value, for only a few seasons, that's a contract that won't impede anything imo.

IMO Raffl is a good deadline piece. There should be a playoff team out there with a need for him. Sell to the highest bidder

27 which is what he'll be next week is not a young player in this league. He is a league veteran, like many other UFA's. Suggesting that a bottom 6 winger going into unrestricted free agency is not replaceable is one of the funniest things I've read on here in awhile.
