They were loyal in the past I think.

Lately I am not so sure. Whether they were good moves or not, and I think most were..

Signing long term deals to, and getting rid of core players: Richards, Carter, JVR, Bryz. Doesnt scream loyalty. Handling of the Gagne situation on this last go around either.

I agree completely.

Trades are part of the business, and don't have anything to do with loyalty. The guy they put in the Flyers Hall of Fame last night, was traded by the team.
- MJL

The Kings and Wings are doing just fine by drafting, developing and staying within the race for the playoffs. Check where they rank among teams that draft, develop and currently have stuck with guys on their roster.

He mentioned that..

But he still respected the man that dealt him.

Call me crazy, signing guys to long term deals and dealing them early in those deals is not loyalty.

Again, I agree with making all those trades. Carter is a debate but I doubt he matures as a player if he stays in Philadelphia.

Are you arguing the Flyers are a loyal organization? I think the are to the old guard. Also wouldnt want them not making a move just to be loyal.

What are you arguing again?

Didn't say it was loyalty. It's also not being disloyal. It's simply the business of hockey.

The big point by Nutter anyway, that there shouldnt be great fear of losing or replacing Snider.

Did a lot of good things? Hell yeah.

The days of glory are dead. Since the new NHL and since he hasn't been able to buy a team, his clubs have either ridden streaks of 'lightning in a bottle' or have floundered. Been one step behind the evolving trends of the game, and not only the cap.

(frank) him. He has done a great job in the past, and nobody can take that away. Time for new blood.

We are all good. All fans. It makes sense to have different opinions on how the club can continue to evolve and get better.

Rock on.

During the cap era, the Flyers went from a last place team, to a Cup finals team, under Snider's ownership.

What are the specific evolving trends that they've been one step behind?

You tell me Joe!

How do you think adding 14 lbs of muscle can help a player that is a smaller defenseman to begin with, to play in the NHL?

- MJL

that's not what was said last season and even still he couldn't play with the big club while "adding muscle"?

Nah. let's ignore that it happened. It doesn't fit the narrative. When did the 'new NHL" kick in, and what are the specific trends that the Flyers have been behind?

I'm having a real issue with signing guys over seas or in college lately and watching the drop off. Medvedev, Bellmare, Raffl and Read are all mid 20's and up signings from elsewhere. All on one roster. I think it's impirtant to get developed and groomed players from the NHL to contend, regardless of projected position, first line to fourth.

Look up a couple of posts to see my main point. Its been made, and if you dont agree I am cool with that. This game will be played all day for no real purpose. I find that boring.

Nothing to do with whether I agree or not. Simply asking for something, anything of substance to support your opinion. Then maybe I can decide whether I agree or not.

I like Medvedev. Well enough to want to see him more. Flyers wont have that shot if he is benched. If its health issues so be it, I havent heard 100%.

I think Bellemare and Raffl can be part of a monster 4th line on a cup contender. Maybe a Betts/Sjostrom pair from years ago.

Read? Im done. Sucks as I was a fan.

But the problem for me is, these are all ungroomed players. Screw scouting! Scout 16 to 18 years, draft them and watch them blossom. I think we have too many pot hole fillers onbtgis team and this is without bringing up Umberger and Lecavalier taking up cap space.

If you're waiting for your prospect base to be ready, what's the problem with signing undrafted free agents to make the team better? A team should leave no stone unturned looking for talent. Bellemare is a strong Pker and solid 4th line center. Read is a solid 3rd line winger. Raffl is a good solid young player.

Drafting is a huge part to todays game.

Giving the players you draft, and spend time on a chance to grow and evolve is another aspect. Straka or Cousins should be playing. There is a bigger chance I'll bang Kate Upton than a dude like Umberger or LeCavalier being here on a cup run. Those two should never even sniff the ice.

Not sure that VDV, White, Gagner or Bellmare were such locks as well.

Hence why I am cool with the Manning thing. Give the guy you spent time on a real shot instead of more guys like Colaiacovo.

Straka and Cousins are playing where they belong right now, in the AHL.

I like White a lot. I think he was a tiny bit lowballed contract wise but he missed half of last season, so the deal is fair for now.

I like him as well.

Need a guy here and there also willing to take a few punches to the head. Fighting is a part of the game that is going out the window but to me still has uses.

Disappointed to see the team skate away so many times over the past few years when the goalie or players are targeted. That needs to change, and an identity that needs to be implemented by coaching.

...and yet Raffl is on the first line and Read on the second line. Nobody should be happy with this situation. The Flyers should have been happy with their too line of Giroux, Voracek and Hartnell. It was legitmate.

I think they've asked Simmonds not to fight...he probably should. He's at his best when the juices are flowing.
