Each time they don't score the lack of talent rears its head even more.

Will Voracek, Couturier, Schenn, Raffl and Simmonds continue to be as useless as they are now all year long, nope, I think at a certain point some or all of them will produce points to some extent.

One thing that has to change is either another first line winger or an offensive 2 line center needs to be accounted for..something to take the pressure off just shutting down G and V.

I'd bring up Rosehill for the fights, insert Vinny. Keep Gagner up. I'd send Leier and ghost back to the phantoms so they can compete for a Calder Cup. Play Medvedev to put some kind of trade value on him

They were physically beat on by the Sens last night and lost Laughton in the process.
Thought Chiasson boarded him and it was a dangerous play the refs missed.

They did play ok in the first but throughout the game every mistake turned into a Sens goal.

A lot of mistakes made in the second and third led to turnovers and breakaways.

I'm surprised there are still 5-6 teams lower then them in the standings. Won't be for long though.

I think they lost confidence after the two Ottawa goals, and prior to that seemed to be the better team. After that, there was visible frustration and guys started to press, which led to more mistakes.

One thing I'd like to see them try is along the John Stevens rearrange the room lines. Just something to shake up the day to day. Something off the wall & fun.

if a trade that makes sense for now and the future comes along, I'd make it today. But I'm not in agreement with making a move just to make a move. If you want to split Giroux and Voracek, fine, to me that's a tweak, but I'm against doing something bigger just to do something.

If you're going to bring up Straka, who sits? To me the only choices would be Brayden Schenn or Sam Gagner, because they are the only regulars who are out and out one way players that don't fill in on the PK. They're not going to bench Voracek or Giroux. Guys like Read, Couturier, Bellemare, Raffl & VandeVelde have been good at ES and the PK despite not scoring many goals. I mean do you bench a guy who is giving you good two way play to take a chance that a guy from the AHL might score?

Again swapping in Straka for Gagner is pretty much a tweak than a big bold change.

In terms of how long do you wait, I'd say give it until New Years. At that point if it hasn't turned, you're not going to have worries about throwing in the towel on the season, and any changes are less about desperation and more about stockpiling assets for the future.

i'd sit gagner

I'm fine with waiting till the deadline. Stockpile assets for the future. I've lost hope this group turns it around.

I have 100% confidence that this will happen. Edmonton deserves it more than we do. They need another top pick to mismanage

No complaints here. The second overall selection would be awesome.

Just amazes me how we are 2 years removed from a playoff spot with the same core group ( G Voracek Simmonds Couturier Mason Read Schenns) and this is the year we are having? Did everyone forget how to play?

I think things are stale right now and a change is needed. Where or who,I don't know. I agree with those who don't want to trade just for the sake of doing so, but this can't go on into March /April.

Call ups are nice, but I feel a shakeup of our core is needed.

Thanks Bill. I turned off the game after two periods, and figured that the game was a lock for the Sens.
Crappy hit on Scotty L. I hope that the league will review that hit, and if they can't do anything because a penalty was not called, then they need to change that rule. Refs are people too, and can miss things. Let the main office review questionable hits after the game, and then decide whether, or not to make a move against the player in question.
Good on Gagner for sticking up for his line-mate. He may still be feeling the effects of being thrown into the fire by the Oilers, but at least he has some character. Trying to undo the "Oil Effect" may take some time. Just look at Luke, and his bad Leaf habits. Two cases for proper player development.
It will be interesting to see who Hexy brings up. I realize that letting the kids grow is important, however giving them a taste of the NHL should be important as well.

Cousins and Straka both have ample AHL experience and should get a look soon. Sadly, Laughton is likely gonna be out for a while and Leier can go back down, so there are the 2 spots needed for them.

I'm convinced that it's not the coaching.

They've had three coaches in the past 6 years with different approaches, different systems. None have seemed to work - to date.

Hakstol gets a buy at this point having simply been handed a roster without enough talent to compete for a PO spot.
