It's clear you're assuming trades won't happen with th e roster that you gave. How is expecting some trades to be made, unreasonable? Surely trades that aren't rumored happen in the NHL. The last Flyers trade that was made wasn't rumored to my knowledge.

If he's "also" sharing his, I assume you will be sharing your speculative 16/17 Flyers' roster, as the "also" implies that you have one as well...unless I missed it earlier.

Edit: Basically, would you please provide us with one of your multiple sample rosters you've compiled so that we can see how easily VLC can be kept on the roster cap-wise?

All you've given is what the Flyers already have on the books for the season. I've put together multiple sample rosters and looked at what the Flyers can potentially do without buying out Lecavalier. I have them written out at home in preparation of such a conversation. I'll be happy to share it when I get home. The Flyers do not need to buy him out. They may choose to but they don't need to. Fans still can't grasp that the cap is about choices.

I don't have anything planned. To be clear, I'm not predicting what Hextall will do. I'm simply going to show how a team can be put on the ice without buying anyone out. Buying out Lecavalier and/or Umberger would be a big mistake, in my opinion. I'm simply moving out a few veterans, and bringing in some younger players. Which is a natural progression that a team like the Flyers with the state of their team, would reasonably make. You'll nitpick it, but I'm prepared for all that.

If you read back, I stated that I have prepared speculative rosters for when this conversation came back up, to show how the Flyers can put a team on the ice without a buyout, and that I would post it when I got home. It's not a plan.

I am also asking to speculate even further in the future...when you say that the Flyers will be competitive and Vinny's 916k buyout penalty will be dead money. I think the team will have enough ELCs where it is not a problem to fit them under the cap. The only raises they will have are potentially B Schenn again and MDZ/Ghost/Mason. Combined with Streit and Umberger no longer on the books, I dont see how Hextall couldnt work around 916k of dead money when he is already working around 8 mill + of dead money.

Stop saying things like they dont need to buyout Lecavalier, because we both know that there are ways to get under the cap without buying him out. My point is that he is so useless to this team that the cap penalties are worth buying him out this summer. Getting rid of him is a positive, but getting rid of Read and Streit are negatives (in terms of current on ice production)
