Exactly! Now if it was Hamonic and Strome or Okposo...

So, would you actually contemplate moving Gio & say Klimchuk for Hamonic & Strome?

Trading the Captain would be a huge blow to the psyche of the team but we sure would be looking good in 2-3 years. I am convinced after watching Brodie late last year & playoffs & this year since he's been back, he truly is our best D-man & probably leader. What a bold move. & the thing is, Gio doesn't have a NTC right now. I gotta say, I love Gio, but Hamonic fits the age box for this group & Strome would be a huge upgrade over Klimchuk. A no brainer top 6 on our team.

It would definitely be hard not to pull the trigger if it was on the table.

It is a nice looking package, but a deal like that doesn't typically happen in the non-NHL 16 world. Gio is entrenched in the community, the dressing room, and he just signed a long-term contract with the intent of staying with the Flames.

This would be bad ju-ju for any negotiation BTL has with any future free agent or pending free agent. Just not gonna happen.

Well, let's consider need vs desire. Looking at their D today, they have:

Boychuk
Hamonic
Hickey
Leddy
Zidlicky (ok, very old)
De Haan
Strait
Pelech

I quite like that D corps, and if you pulled a Hamonic out, yes, it's a loss, but I think Snow is crazy to think of getting a replacement level player of similar age. Especially after news becomes public about Hamonic's:

Desire to be traded
and
a short list of teams he has a preference to be traded to

The only situation that makes sense is where a corresponding player on a western conference team has a desire to move out East. I can't see a scenario where a team is going to trade for an equal caliber player who plays the same position unless it's because they are moving an "attitude problem".

I think the more likely scenario is a lesser talent on D is sent to the Islanders with a kicker (either a vet forward or a prospect on D/F)

add pulock and mayfield to that list of prospects who are on the edge if not already nhl ready
