Wow that is awesome about your dad.

I toured Metalworks. It was Triumph's exclusive recording studio. He bought out Rik Emmett when he left Triumph then bought out Mike Levine, now it is one of the best, most advanced recording studios in N. America.

First album recorded there was Progressions of Power.

- LeafMan

Yup - been there lots. Everyone has recorded or been mixed/mastered there at some point.

I think one of them was from my high school (before my time).

They always said they were a Mississauga band but were always introduced as being from Toronto.

And they recorded the song to save the white rhino!

(Yeah, I googled it).

But believe it or not, I do have a Triumph Greatest Hits CD, signed by Gil, which I received as thanks through a work function thingy a few years ago.

- Atomic Wedgie

haha - didn't even know about the white rhino; good for them.

It was suppose to be their metal album, that is why the majority of the songs were sung by Gil.

My favourites are Tear the Roof Off and Nature's Child.

Victoria Park Secondary School.

Long story short: my first girlfriend (like, grade 8!) lived next door to one of the band member's parents. Her older sibling (long time ago, can't even remember if it was sister or brother) held a party and they banged on the wall (it was a townhouse), knocking a gold record to the floor next door.

Ah, good memories.

I remember back in the mid 80's we got some insider news that Triumph were staying at the Parkway Hotel on #7 in Markham. A pile of us jump in the car to investigate. We end up down one wing of the hotel and have our ears up to the doors trying to figure out which room they were in. Finally, we think we have the room and I start pounding on the door, I hear people inside but nobody is answering. I continue pounding until this big, fat, hairy mofo answers.........what do you want he says ! Is Triumph in there, I asked, slams door. We go home !!

Just in case you were wondering, here's the list for the Greatest Hits:

Tears in the Rain

Hold On

Live for the Weekend

Magic Power

Follow Your Heart

A World of Fantasy

Fight the Good Fight

Spellboudn

Somebody's Out There

Lay It On the Line

Rock 'n' Roll Machine.

Sadly, I'm not a big fan. But I can't really throw the CD out, and I can't really bring it home either, as I no longer really play CDs, so it will sit in my office forever.

In Swedish Junior: Nylander scored at a 1.6 Points Per Game (PPG) pace. Faster than any 16 year old in a decade. Faster than Landeskog, the Sedins, Filip Forsberg, or Gustav Nyquist. The Allsvenskan: He then went on to the Swedish AHL-equivalent, where he scored faster than any 17 year old ever. Faster than Forsberg and Pastrnak and Burakowsky and Backlund and, well… everyone, right? In the SHL: he scored faster than any 18 year old had in 20 years. Faster than both Sedins, Anze Kopitar, and Peter Forsberg. Look, he scored faster than Mats Sundin, and he did this on a disastrously bad, last-place MODO team. AHL: After Nylander ran out of runway in Sweden, he got called over to the AHL. A mid-season change of language, team-mates, rink size and so on is not easy. The result? Well, in 37 games he scored more points than any 18 year old had in five years. He upped his scoring rate every. single. month. as he adjusted, rising from 0.5 to 0.6 to 0.9 to 1.3 PPG — just as he had scaled up his scoring rate in the SHL. He finished the season with 15 points in the last 10 games. International: At every age — 17, 18 and 20 — Nylander has scored more than 1.4 PPG at the Worlds. Pause on that and hit replay for a second: At every age — 17, 18 and 20 — Nylander has scored more than 1.4 PPG at the Worlds. He was the top scorer at the World Under 18’s, and just one point off the lead at last year’s World Junior Championship.

Every one has their own tastes. What I found to be unique about them aside from including classical guitar pieces on albums, you had two lead singers so it was always a different sound.

He should be up, I said this before, bring a couple young players up a year so they are scattered or is it staggered from one year to the next in the lineup. Babcock is the perfect coach to bring him along. My two cents.

If you ever walk into that new Ryerson building at Yonge and Gould, and look to your left, up on those giant wooden steps all the students are sitting on, you'll see a tiny little plaque on one of the columns, dedicated to A&A records.

That's their compromise for not keeping the record man sign up... Well, that and paying for it to be installed in y&d square.

I'm ok with him being down for the collective benefit of the higher-tier prospects. Building chemistry.

I'm sure the players like Nylander will be knocking down the door by the end of the year and we will start to see them finding spots on the big team rolling into next year.

I know. I love that new building... Spend most of my time on the 7th floor studying in silence... But man is Ryerson ever owned by a bunch of Richardwads.
