Minnesota is the next closest NHL city, geographically. WPG just traded a bunch of chips. Doubtful a deal happens with them.

EDM & CAL still need to take flight. Chicago(biggest airport in the US) closer than Vancouver-about the same as EDM/CAL as are a handful of other teams south of the border.

So, why THOSE 4 Canadian teams only? Customs?

Something's missing that we don't know yet.

Hey, Brooklyn's not THAT far....

I understand Winnipeg. Maybe he has close relatives in other parts of western Canada?? The only other thing I can think of is that a team in the Western Conference will play more than the one game a season an Eastern Conference team plays in Winnipeg.

BTW, I'm beginning to think the reason Snow's been carrying three goalies is to package one of them with Hamonic to a team in need of a solid d-man plus goalie help. Not sure who that would be, but maybe he is even able to upgrade at d-man????

Hamonic for Tanev?
- rangerdanger94

Tanev is awesome, however he does not have an "NHL Shot".
Incredibly steady. It would be tough to see him go.
Harmonic seems to have a risk factor if his head is not in the game. Gambling with Defensemen is not worth it, unless your sure.
It can take 5 years before obtaining homegrown D-man talent, ask the Oilers.

Hamonic has played perfectly fine all season for his "head not being in the game" so that's not an actual concern. You'd be thrilled with him.

Obviously need to get guys in return who want to be here. Does Snow trade for skill or high compete players?

Would love to see one or more BST D play now, but do you break up BST and rush these guys? Teams like DET let them play in minors for a while as well.

Darren Dreger has Wpg, Edm, Cgy and Van on his list. Winnipeg is Hammers' obvious team. But... Why not Minnesota? Chicago? St. Louis? All just as close or even closer to his home town of Winnipeg. If Vancouver is on his list why not Detroit, Columbus or Toronto again all closer. I know he wants to closer to home but Garth will get what he feels is the best deal for the Isles and that might mean other team's then whats on Hammers' list.
- btbossman

Obviously this story going public hurts the isles leverage (once again). But, the upside is that Travis is a legit talent, and that alone should bring back some sort of value. Dmen like him dont come around too often, so id imagine a team like Edmonton is gonna be all over this. They have the pieces up front to move to bring in a cornerstone on the backend for them. The isles need a winger for JT (Eberle), and the Oil need top 4 dmen.

Does anyone have any idea as to what the personal reason is for Hamonic asking to be traded? It kinda sucks...

This may sound callous, but if I'm Snow, I tell Hamonic "hey, we get it. You want to be closer to home. We will try to accommodate you but we're not giving you away. If we get a deal for equal or better value in return for you, well accommodate you. If not, plan on finishing out your contract"

Hammer is arguably their best d-man. They can't give him away just to make Hammer happy. They owe it to the other players to make sure if they trade Hammer, they get back a top four d-man, signed and entering his prime, just as Hammer is.

- Jethro09

I dont think its callous, i think its pro sports and thats what you sign up for. If Travis did in fact ask to be traded before the season, im curious why this is now 2 months later and the story gets out to the public without him being traded? Definitely not good for the isles.

Also as @FriedgeHNIC and @DarrenDreger reported, Hamonic's reason for trade request is entirely personal. Nothing to do with team or arena

I almost wonder if part of what's going on is that Hamonic has had a change of heart on his contract and is hoping to pressure Snow into some sort of renegotiation? He sees guys like Boychuk and Leddy earning a couple million more per season and thinks to himself, "Why not me?" It's purely speculation, but that's all we can do until Hamonic goes public with the matter...
- JohnScammo

THERES NO WAY thats the case. Hes an honorable guy........if i had to guess, i bet his mom is ill and he wants to be there for them as he's the "man" in the family.

Yeah I'm in the same boat. If you leave out Tavares, he's probably in my top 2 or 3 favorite guys on this team. It sucks, but family comes first. That said, to reiterate my post from last night, I'm sure Snow read him the riot act that (to the GM) the team's well-being trumps one player's personal well-being. I'm sure the Garth and the Isles will accommodate him as best they can, but they most certainly will not get taken for a ride in doing so. Which is evident because it's now been 6+ weeks since the trade was requested and nothing has come of it. And that's the right thing to do.

I hear you but i kinda feel like its a nice way of saying, trade me now. Im sure Snow will try and get value for Travis but at the end of the day I dont feel like he asked to be traded, i feel like in a nice way he said get er done.
