I don't see that as a realistic scenario. If I had to pick someone off one of those four teams that was reasonable, id look at tanev in Vancouver. Not sure the Canucks would move him.

I see it as a very plausible scenario. Nurse is still a bit unproven and yak hasn't lived up to expectations. Hamonics talent doesn't grow on trees and his contract is one of a kind. His cap hit is so cheap compared to his talent. That will be fully taken into consideration. Garth has made very very good trades. Even ones we thought were a bit iffy turned out to be pretty damn good imho. I trust him on this. I'm asking for the moon if I were him. Am I over valuing hammer? Maybe... but I have every reason to. Trade request or not, Garth will only move him for the right trade.

I have to think Garth is going to be real careful with this deal. This could frank up the season and that's not good with new owners on the way.

Don't get me wrong...I'm upset. Hamonic is one of my favorite Islanders. But this may not turn out to be the unmitigated disaster that it feels like it could be.

I don't disagree with you. Can anyone name a trade where the guy who requested it gets equal value back for his team? I can't think of one.

I can think of a couple where said team got fair or even better return in the LONG run.
but right off the hop, or even near future, its generally appears as a loss

I wonder what you would be saying if I came in here saying "hurr durr Hamonic has no trade value hurr durr Justin Schultz + 3rd is best you can get". You'd probably argue that Snow can wait until he gets fair value.

I was thinking something like Hamonic, Grabo, and a 2nd for Schultz, Korpikoski, and a 1st. I'm likely the outlier among Oiler fans though. A lot of them have been reluctant to move any 1sts in the past.
