God, how could anyone not enjoy Seabrook lighting him up two years ago? He gets away with murder on a nightly basis. How is that a two minute penalty?

Quotes not working for me.
Isn't it ironic that Backes does this on a nightly basis, but Blues fans will not let us forget the one time one of ours did it to him?

Its just the lens they view him in because he is their captain

To them he is a "fiery competitor who plays the game hard"

To everyone else in the league he is a d bag that cheap shots people, takes runs at skill players when they outplay him, pulls crap after the whistle, and takes runs at kids

Bc Gustaffson is already a better all around NHL defenseman in 10 NHL games. How many games has Daley played in the show?? If he hasn't figured out how to defend by now, he never will. Anyone who thinks its a "system adjustment" just needs to look at his career advanced statistics and quit praying for a miracle. Good Riddance IMO and thanks for getting us Garbutt at half price

Daley being on the block might be a function of the fact that they are not willing to pay what the sweetner for Bickell IE its to much of a overpay. And moving his salary out this year or next. With so many Teams needing D men might bring a return instead of giving up Pokka and a 1st to get rid of Bick. since the Panarin signing Bow had just a brutal off season. If in fact we move Daley for a mid level prospect or pick that would mean we gave up Sharp and Johns for next to nothing. And we gave up to what looks to be like 2 pretty good goalies for nothing and we had to give up a 3rd to have someone take Steeg. I know I should be over it by now But I'm not. The SAAD trade is the only one that could end up looking better then Even. All the others we got fleeced.

That third D pairing for the hawks continues to scare me...
- roots_gamble

I know they gave up a goal last game but the flames earned the goal, I thought compared to Rozy's first game back the pair was more improved. TVR imo got away with quite a few mistakes last game two bad pinches and#7 bailed him out both times.

I'm not really a supporter or detractor of Stan, but the bottom line is that we had to get rid of a lot of guys because of the salary cap, and everyone knew it. Would we be happier if we got the rumored 2 2nd rounders for Sharp? Probably, as it might have allowed for retaining Oduya, but hindsight is always 20/20.

I'm actually kinda happy that we as forced into "retooling" each year as I think it adds a new dynamic that keeps the players on their toes and more concentrated on their game. Yes, losing Saad, Sharp and Oduya (I never liked Steeg) hurt, but it's an inevitability that we are going to lose good players almost every year.

Why did he wait until all the teams basically filled out there rosters and filled out all there cap space or Budgets. He went from having 10-15 potential buyers to? To what looks like somewhere from 1 to 1.1.

This makes sense, especially if Daley will be relegated to the 3rd pairing. Ideally I would like to see Daley improve his play and be a solid contributor on the PP. But that seems less and less likely to happen. I know the same size of Gustafsson's work is small, but based on what we've seen I think he could be just as effective as Daley.

There are lots of teams looking for help on defense, if Stan doesn't want much in return he should be able to find a new home for Daley.

So say Daley goes... for picks or are we looking for a 6-7 D in return?

I would prefer picks myself, but it would depend on who the 6/7 dman was.

He is on the block simply because he isn't good enough to play with this team, period. And they know Gufstasson is a replacement that saves them $2.6M vs the cap.

Wonder if they would sign Viz with the extra money? He looked pretty good in Q's system in the pre-season. Or does Gusto come back up?? Interesting to see Daley on the block already. Q and Stan must have seen enough.

Yet paradoxically they apparently haven't seen enough of Mashinter and Rundblad. hmmm....

I heard 2-3 weeks ago the coaching staff was showing patience with him, but wouldn't forever. FWIW.

"Daley is on the block" is kind a safe narrative.

By the same metrics, the Hawks probably have a few guys "on the block." It's just not as easy to single those guys out (other than Bickell) and jump on the rumor train.

And Rundblad isn't on the block because there's probably zero market for him. So there ya go.

This Rundblad thing is comedy. WTF does Stan see in that guy? A true wasted million that is really needed right now.

I would guess that if Daley goes that Gustafsson (preferably) or Svedberg would take his place.

I don't like this at all sure Gustafsson could probably do as good a job as Daley, and TVR is playing well, but they would be foolish to give him away especially since TVR had two significant injuries last year and we've only played a quarter of the season. I bet they're trying to get a bidding war going between two teams, we'll see but don't like this at all.

Agreed, somebody covering a team on a regular basis can easily figure out who might be traded or management would like to trade - dispensable players like Daley, Desjardins, Garbutt, McNeill, Morin, Haggerty and of course Rundblad. But it just isn't easy to consummate those deals.

The thing about moving out Daley is that dumping that contract opens up flexibility at the trade deadline and/or gives Bowman the space to extend Kruger at higher numbers.

Tik isn't getting discouraged is he? I'm not sure what Qs problem is with him. He works hard. Took a bad penalty I think. Q has his favs sometimes.
