Hey a win is a win but.....can we continue winning with basically only one line scoring? I am not sure what is going on with Toews Line....they are not clicking. I think Coach got lucky with Double shifting Kaner after TT left the game. Kane looked tired inO/T ...Crawford saved Kaner's AAs

Everything i hoped he'd be and more. Want to see him shoot MORE, but he's doing fine. Other thing i love about him is his GRIT. He's a scrappy little dude.

I wasn't necessarily expecting him to be so scrappy, but it was a great unexpected bonus

Oilers t.v. guys whining forever about a "missed too many men call" on the Hossa winner.
- philco28

Nope. AA was on the boards when Hossa got the pass.

A work in progress? He is a ten year veteran. And yes TVR got beat on the third goal. It happens to the best. But hey. Doesn't matter what I think of TVR. His coach put him right back out there while your boy Daley barely sniffed the ice in the 3rd.
- TTtime

That's true about TVR, Daley never played in a defensive system like this, Coach Q doesn't make him a healthy scratch so it makes me believe he agrees that Daley needs playing time to learn his defensive system. What you can't see and what the Hawks see is how he would help the offense if he can figure out the defense.

You're right on that, I think that is the first time Hoss has scored on his patented slapper in a hell of a long time. on the breakaway that is
- HawkfaninBC

You are right Hossa finally got a goal on a breakaway...I hope that is the start of something good.

When are we going to start to refer A A, bread man , n Kane line as our # 1 line?

On the Oiler's first goal - TvR changed when the puck wasn't deep and gave the Oiler's a 2-0 breakaway.

On the Oiler's second goal, Daley let Nurse drive around him and put a pass into the slot where Rozsival was standing around not checking anyone, specically the Oiler goal scorer.

On the third Oiler goal, TvR got out-muscled for the puck and the guy made a pass toward the net that Draisatl scored.

In other words - the bottom 3 d-men didn't play very well tonight.

Dude it's basic hockey 101. Gap control, active stick, ability to win a puck battle and positioning are all standard aspects of defense. Keep harping on the "system". That's a bunch of BS. Playing defense is pretty standard in the defensive zone. The "adjustment" is when to join the rush and yes, he still doesn't know when to do that either. "The system" has nothing to do with basic defensive principles that escape Mr. Daley. I hope he improves like the next fan. I'm just being realistic about what he is, and what he isn't.

He was playing less then 3 rookies before Keith came back. What you can't see is he has never been a good defensive player. Never.

He won't help the offense. He doesn't see the ice well. Takes way too long to make an outlet pass.

Daley is the classic has 2 points and is a minus 3 on the night player. And before you tell me all about his 16 goals last season, go take a look at his SH% last season. It was more then twice his career average. Want to bank on that?

The truth is he had an opportunity to step up and prove his worth when Keith was out and he couldn't beat out 3 guys with a total of less then 50 games of NHL experience.

I hope they trade him. The sooner the better.

I think the key is to not overreact to one bad game(and make no mistake, it was BAD). Gotta give him somewhat of a lengthy trial at that position, he looked good there the past 2 games. I know its unlike Q though, and i wouldn't be surprised if Shaw was back up there next game. I hope not. I'd like Dano to get an honest chance to earn that spot, maybe he bounces back and plays well next game. But god damn was he bad tonight...

Give the kid some time, he's still a rookie playing a new position. He'll get there.

Good win for sure but still not feeling good about Toews line. The line is really struggling . Dano is way to inexperienced to play on the line. I think coach should try Shaw again with Toews and Hossa. If that does not work...Stan is going to have to trade for experienced left winger like Marle sooner than he wants to because the line is totally non productive so far. Go Hawks!

I'd keep Dano there for a while longer, if he poops the bed again next game as bad as he did tonight though my opinion might change. I think he'll bounce back.
