If you are betting the 50/50s, you bet 10 and you win 18 and as long as your not an idiot thats pretty easy to do.

That's great if you are only allowing 1 play per user. but when a shark comes in and fills half of the spots you are already at a disadvantage.

I'm with you on this. I do fantasy football and hockey, but standard full season and for not a lot of money with my friends. It's mostly for bragging rights.

50/50, double ups, triple ups, etc. are the way to go. Only 100 entries you only have to beat out 50 or 33 etc depending if its a double or triple up. The big tourneys you have no shot at big money unless you get lucky. Ill throw a dollar or two into a big tourney every once in a while. Most of won doing that is $75 and ill pick up a few bucks here and there. But 50/50s im probably doubling my money 70% of the time. Ill do 10 or 20. When i was all about it i was normally up 200 to my 20-30 bet at any given time.

Yes, that's my point, you bet $10 and win $18, your original stake of $10 plus $8 in profit. At these odds you'll never make any money, nobody is that good at gambling to overcome these odds in the long run. A standard sportsbook will pay back $19.10 on a $10 bet, and if you talk to any gambler, they will tell you it's hard enough to overcome the odds at that 9% commission. 20% forget it, the only people making money is the website.

50/50s are 1 entry only, which is why i stay away from the tourneys because they are not.

Sorry, I used to bet on sports for years. It is a weird language but it's not complicated once it is explained.

Yeap. The tourneys are brutal. I will say i do play in them but i know my chances of winning it big are 1:1,000,000.

Is 1 inch really going to make a difference? My vote is to increase the nets 1 inch a year for 5 years. It gives players and goalies time to adjust and 5 inches is substantial.

the morning pissing contests was high level nhl players (up front) peak at 25

nice chart, and graph trying to back up the article

way too many players stats over that age for that theory

even if you took the top 50 players of all time and average the age of their best work, it's probably closer to 28 then 25

- homiedclown

Michael David Barret "peaked" at age 47...and then got jail time for it.

Well, think about how many times you hear a puck ring off a pipe? One more inch means they go in the net.

Hey when was Thomas Vanek's best year?
- sbroads24

When he was on the 3rd line of a high scoring team in a time when the game was fast and obstruction/holding/hooking was called vigilantly as opposed to when his line was the focal point for other teams best defensive pairings and after the team's two best centers left via FA, while obstruction slowly but surely crept back into the game?

Do you really think Danny White was an obstacle to that?

And that will be first and foremost on the new AD's priority list?

I said point blank before, that the info presented wasn't wrong. The problem, is that the facts were strategically selected, which is the case in a lot of these "advanced stats" that we see today.

You can't say that a player's scoring declines after age 25 when you're only looking at a sample of guys that are between age 21-29 and that are in the Top 9 (forwards). You're missing a ton of players by hand selecting that set criteria.

Facts are facts, but again, they can be twisted around in a way that make them not quite as "Factual" as they technically should be.

EDIT: Also, please don't generalize and calls us all "guys." We are not, in FACT, all guys.

- HonkFortheGoose

So, you are saying they took 21 year olds to use their stats for a study of their scoring? Can you see the problem with what you are saying?

I think your reading comprehension was faulty when you were trying to make sense of that article. I think what you missed is that they are looking at what players scored during that age range.

so if you are arguing that they may peak later than 29, I would love to discuss that with you. But if that is not your contention, then everything you posted makes no sense. Reread the article please

But seriously nobody is saying that scorers don't drop off after 29

Most scorers do drop of at a significant pace once they turn 30 but to say scorers only peak at age 25? That's not accurate.

White wasn't even in the mindset to look at hockey even though there has been a push within the numerous club teams to get hockey as a varsity sport.

White wouldn't even discuss it.

A new AD might share the same beliefs but I am not so sure. There is a big contingency of people that want to see UB get a hockey team. I believe it will happen (obviously not right away). I also heard there is a donor waiting to build a rink.

Is his name Terry Pegula? He can spend another 180 million and replicate the Penn st rink It is crazy to think that UB does not have a team given our location and the talent of a lot of our high school players in the area.

It is not Pegula but that's not to say he wouldn't contribute.
