Maybe the word " tradition" has something to do with keeping things the way they are, or not changing. Not a bad word but perfect in this context.

Now if they want to talk making the puck smaller as a way to increase scoring....

- LandlordTom

i guess. i mean i won't lose my poop if they do it, i just see it as pointless as i love the game the way it is right now. and another thing is, i do not recall any fans complaining about this 2-3 weeks ago. it's the media that has been harping on this all along. it seems to me most fans are fine as is. no one has an issue with the NHL on a game by game basis but then after 82 games we don't see someone with 115 points and then comes the freak out.

yes i saw the video. yes Smith looks very different than todays goalie.

My point is that everyone looks at that video and sees smith, but no mention of gretzky. no player looks like that today. no player uses a stick like that today.

changes in goalie equipment have been made to keep pace with the advancement of players gear and size and skill. most who suggest goalie/net changes speak as if goalies have become giants while the rest of the league is exactly the same.

its short sighted and prejudial. why under current regs do goalies have to use appropriately sized and proportioned pads that must be approved by the league in the sake of fairness- but nathan gerbe and tyler myers can use the same length stick???

- battelmt

agree to a point, but goalies have taken advantage of that and even Bylsma, who's not a proponent of increasing the net size, said that the size of some of the equipment can be reduced while also inferring that some other goalie equipment is disproportionate

Court case is next Wednesday, Paul Cambria said this morning that they will continue to operate things just may change a little and also stated that if the judge rules in favor of DFS don't be surprised if online poker makes a comeback because it is also a game of "skill"

they missed the boat big time

A: limit the entries to the tournys to single entry per person
B: stop shoving adds down out throat
C: when the kid posted the information, they needed to be front and center for damage control

This. What messed up everything was DraftKings, FanDuel CEO from day one welcomed the regulation of it. DraftKings CEO ran the company like an idiot. Called it gambling in an interview and let his employees bet. DFS will be back in NYS but it will be heavily regulated and the state will get a cut.

you don't, which is why I got out when that story broke

I put $200 in before week 1, they say they match it

played double ups, triple ups for the most part first 2 weeks

turned the $200 into a grand

played $500 a week for a few weeks, taking the odds (playing thursday-monday games with crap teams on thursday, low dollar qb's, researched my cheap third wr, etc)

I cashed out $2000 when the story broke, and only used a fraction of the $200 they matched

my guess is you have to bet 10 grand to get that $200 match play in your account as I was getting a few dollars released each week

These fantasy sites like DraftKings take a 20% vig, don't they? How does anyone overcome those odds?

The way they do it is you earn player points. 100 player points = $1. AKA you have to get 2,500 player points to reach the $25 minimum.

You don't. Unless you have a massive amount to spend each week. Talking spending $1,000 in a $5 entry contest and maxing out the number of entries you can have.

Incorrect.

Gradually releasing bonuses as you play prevents fraud and discourages multi-accounting. Deposit bonus is released as real cash at a rate of 4% of the entry fee of the contest you enter. For example, if you enter a $25 contest, $1 of deposit bonus will be released into your main funds account. Users collect deposit bonus upon settlement of the contest entered. If a contest or entry is canceled, your entry fee will be refunded and no bonuses will be earned.

Oh really?

"The deposit bonus releases in increments of $1 for every 100 Frequent Player points (FPP's) you earn. FPP's are earned when joining any paid contest on the site. You cannot directly access your deposit bonus to enter contests. You must release it $1 at a time by participating in our contests. The deposit bonus is a rewards based offer which encourages our users to participate frequently in our contests"

You enter $25 and lose it all on the first week. You only get maybe $1 or $2 or your bonus released. you lose that you are SOL and have to deposit more money if you want to continue playing as you are not eligible to that bonus if you dont play.

50/50, double ups, triple ups, etc. are the way to go. Only 100 entries you only have to beat out 50 or 33 etc depending if its a double or triple up. The big tourneys you have no shot at big money unless you get lucky. Ill throw a dollar or two into a big tourney every once in a while. Most of won doing that is $75 and ill pick up a few bucks here and there. But 50/50s im probably doubling my money 70% of the time. Ill do 10 or 20. When i was all about it i was normally up 200 to my 20-30 bet at any given time.

That's what I thought. Your only hope is to place a big bet and win, you can't build a bankroll over the long haul. Even sportsbooks only take 9% and you need to win 54.35% of your standard -110 bets to turn a profit. Nobody is going to overcome a 20% commission over the long haul, not unless you have a crystal ball and know the guaranteed outcomes.

If you are betting the 50/50s, you bet 10 and you win 18 and as long as your not an idiot thats pretty easy to do.
