With today's technology, you absolutely can shrink the equipment size without increasing danger to goaltenders.

agreed- changes can be made- but some of the things im reading about are just silly (some even suggested by retired goalies).

I feel like there's so many ways you can pair these guys up it's crazy.

I think I'd like to see:

Gorges - Bogosian
Pysyk - Ristolainen
McCabe - Franson

- HonkFortheGoose

This is what I was hoping for

I for one do NOT need more scoring to be entertained by hockey, i think its the borderline hockey fans that they are trying to draw in. One think i hate, the review, NHL is not the NFL, they really need to re-visit that whole system in the offseason and get rid of it completely or make MAJOR changes to it. Including the offisides, being able to review something that happened 2 mins prior to a goal is outrageous. Plus if they are going to do that, and i have not seen anyone mention this, ALL of that time needs to go back on the clock. Because if they deemed that the goal is not allowed because play was over due to an offside than the play was dead and the goal is reversed and the time needs to be added back to the clock.

yeah, the NHL is definitely tripping over it's own feet a LOT trying to draw in new fans. the "southern experiment" has mostly failed. trying to "liven up th game" is failing, etc. obviously, goalies are way bigger than they used to be, but skilled players still get pucks past them. bigger nets would just give everyone but the goalies better stats.

theyre misguided in their attempt to grow the game by attracting the fringe fan and in turn chasing away their original fan base.

cater 100% to the lifelong core fan- and youll have a devoted fan base for generation after generation.

Neither do I, but i'd appreciate more back and forth hockey and more chances vs the amount of minutes wasted going d to d or turning over possession on a meaningless dump in because of the neutral zone trap.

I don't need more scoring like most are thinking, I would like people to be able to break the 100point barrier again. No one even broke 90 last year.

I would like to see more than 1 50 goal scorer again.

I would like to see action, there have been several games I have watched this year where it has been dump, chase, dump chase, dump chase, and you end up with the SOG for the game being 20 a piece. And that is boring.

In 05-06, after the lockout
7 players got over 100 points
14 players got 90 or more points

5 players got 50 or more goals

11 players got 40 or more goals

the clutching and grabbing has come back to the game, and it shows

Go back to what it was in the 90's. I took an arbitrary number of 1,10, 20 and 30, 40, 50 to see how many points that person had in that season. Picked a Random year of 96-97

96-97
1) Lemieux - 122 points (50G)
10) Shanahan - 88 points (47G)
20) Hull - 82 points (42G)
30) Mogilny - 73 points (31G)
40) Kamensky - 66 points (28G)
50) Andreychuk - 61 points (27G)

32 players had 30G+ seasons

Last year
1) Benn - 87 pints (35G)
10) Sedin - 73 points (18G)
20) Nash - 69 points (42G)
30) Steen - 64 points (24G)
40) Carter - 62 points (28G)
50) Burns - 60 points (18G)

15 players had 30G+ seasons
