Never change, NHL

So, Vancouver has an opening -- Alex Burrows is out. He had been playing with the Sedins

So to fill the slot, they call up Hunter Shinkaruk, an offensive player, RW, who they drafted to score goals

So what do they do? You guessed it: Shinkaruk somehow winds up on the LW on the fourth line, where he is now expected to show something with guys who are not as skilled as he is

Hockey is a funny sport. Who you play with absolutely matters. It always has. Yet just as often as anything, guys start off playing on that fourth line when the opening that suits them is right freaking there

- AllInForFlyers

Right. I bet the whole team played a joke on him telling him he was called up just to get scratched. What a knee slapper that would be

It will probably be Brandon Manning.

Or more likely Jake given that he filled in last year I believe when Simmer went down.

So is that about Del Zotto sucking, or Del Zotto being placed in a position and role that he shouldn't be placed in?
- MJL

Well he's not a very good PP quarterback and generating nothing offensively at even strength. He's even getting caught going to deep on the rush, which should be a strength but isn't this season...

"I was very shocked because I'm good friends with Mike and still talk to him quite often," Washington winger Justin Williams, who was Richards' teammate with the Flyers and Kings, said last week. "But people aren't going to just voluntarily tell you their issues, and that certainly was the case. He hid a lot. But at the same time, he's still a friend of mine and a guy I'm going to support. He needs help."

You're not nuts. Williams was with the Canes a couple of seasons before Richards arrived in Philly.

May not have been teammates officially but I'm sure Richards attended training camps with Williams so they certainly knew each other
