I think pretty much every player on the team can be better with the exception of probably Neuvith.
- MJL

I've seem more of Del Zotto then I'd like to see on the PK, who can't even tie opposing players in front of the net. Just one example.

There is no way I would under any circumstances make any player or roster decisions on the basis of trying to lose. Not ever. That's me. How can you hold any player to a standard, and do something like that?
- MJL

You can't. You absolutely can't.

Because there is one thing nobody talks about in that scenario. There is something worse than telling players that some games are important and others aren't: PLAYERS deciding that some games are important and others aren't.

Nobody wants to see professional sports when players decide they are out of the race in Game 65 and decide to bring it home at 75-80 percent. And as soon as we enable a world where teams do it, the only logical step is players deciding it

Seems like they had Ristolainen behind Morin, Muller, Zadorov and Nurse

You just can't teach the "he'll whack em with his (frank)ing stick" factor Morin has.

That Flight Plan video is still great. The Morin/Mueller debate is funny given who they preferred them to.

Never change, NHL

So, Vancouver has an opening -- Alex Burrows is out. He had been playing with the Sedins

So to fill the slot, they call up Hunter Shinkaruk, an offensive player, RW, who they drafted to score goals

So what do they do? You guessed it: Shinkaruk somehow winds up on the LW on the fourth line, where he is now expected to show something with guys who are not as skilled as he is

Hockey is a funny sport. Who you play with absolutely matters. It always has. Yet just as often as anything, guys start off playing on that fourth line when the opening that suits them is right freaking there

It's one of the simplest barometers the sport has -- the good teams just collect points from start to finish

I think Michael Del Zotto has sucked. I understand a forward needs to get back if he chooses to play deep on a rush but I'm not even the forwards are aware when or if he's gonna do it.
- SuperSchennBros

I think Luke Schenn and Mark Streit are the only ones who could build a case that they have met expectations. Del Zotto is supposed to bring offense and he hasn't. Schenn has three more points, including two more goals in four less games.

Well depends on the coach. If MDZ shouldn't do offense he still can be OK

So is that about Del Zotto sucking, or Del Zotto being placed in a position and role that he shouldn't be placed in?

Exactly. If I was a team owner or team president, and I found that any management, coach, or player, did anything to try and purposely lose even a single game, they would no longer work or play for me. Zero tolerance policy on that. It comes down to character, and culture.

That could be about two things, one, there could be a player already on the team who has earned a shot with his play, to get a chance in that spot, and secondly, not handing a young player anything, and making him work his way up.
