I like Laviolette too. Not as big on AV.
Problem with Todd Richards is the compensation would be a 2nd rounder.
Not familiar with Sullivan. Gotta imagine he would be considered strongly. Not sure on Martin.
I know Boucher doesn't have an opt out clause anymore.

Sullivan spent a few years as head coach and was Torts right hand man for like a decade. He was also the Blackhawks development coach last year and they churned out some good hockey players.

I like his attitude, resume, and he's free to hire. Easy decision for me.

Big no to Jaques Martin. Nice assistant to have. But he is so vanilla. He would be a trappier version of Johnston.

I agree. My post a few pages back may have seemed nuclear but I'm really not there. I just feel the need to say things like that when people are advancing trading Malkin as the solution to our problems. I keep saying and believing that we'll be fine by the new year, but then every time something happens that we have a major regression and I've about had it that with thinking that this team as it stands is gonna turn the corner at some point. I think the players are legitimately frustrated and want to put in the effort to turn it around. I mean they just had a closed door meeting to talk about it. That's definitely a good sign. If we don't turn it around after being this frustrated and introspective, we're never going to do it under this coach.

Well to put things in prospective (& Sid said similar), Tampa has played more games & are less points AND aren't in a playoff/wildcard position!!

That's the SCF out of the playoffs AND behind the Pens in points at the moment!!!

Calm the (frank) down is what I think is the message!!

Hawks aren't as good as last season & they are in & out of the playoff spot as well! It appears it's a case of the other teams allowing the Hawks in through their results & not the Hawks forcing their way in. They only qualified by 3 points last season & could of easily missed the dance - then went out & put another 1 on the shelf. They play big I'll give them that. See if they can do it this year with a different team??

Lots of time left as everyone knows, plenty of teams treading water like us but many teams probably not as good as us - at least on an individual skill level!!! Tampa, Ducks, Flames a few not in a spot currently???

Can't believe the Oil are back in lottery contention again - (frank)ing unbelievable!!!

Countless people have mentioned this team's desire to make the pretty play...at even strength and especially on the power play.

The Penguins refuse to take shots and outwork another team for rebounds...especially on the power play.

Or...maybe they just can't do it.

Scoring goals in the nhl is hard...but the Penguins make it harder on themselves...they are so predictable now it's silly.

Give this man a star. Perfect assessment of this teams offensive problem.

Well all will be answered against the Wild.

The team was mad, the coaches were mad & Geno spoke publicly about the frustration - good, shows us experts they actually give a (frank).

Things are going to change - change they will.............will they? The Wild are my tip to come out of the West (yes I know that means sweet FA ), & are a good team. If this Pens team has the balls to do something then this game in my opinion is make or break for a serious season. If we can get this game going & get a good win then giddy-up, but if they fall on their swords again & poop the bed expectations from down under will be very low for this season. This game is more a psychological test than a sports game, so switch on (frank)ers & go get some pootang!!!

Some nice questions for MJ on the Pens web site interviews. 5:40 on his video about neutral zone defence - the D is supposed to steer the attack away from centre. Now if that means steering him down the wing where;
A) he shoots he scores from the angle,
Or
B) he shoots a cross to centre ice where Scuds will take the puck into his own net.

He wasn't clear which option was his preferred result???
BINGO!
