Kop and Stam would be... what, about 21 million combined? Maybe more? Would need Scuds and Kunitz gone... Feel like Duper is just going to retire after this year. And then we have loads of cap space... and about the same damn team fundamentally
- Guile

Yea but you'd have a plethora of prospects, picks, and young roster players from Crosby and Malkin's returns.

Hey, you can't blame Crosby for how much Buffalo sucked... Nash had like 8 of his goals against them too.

That we won't play in favor of veterans

edit: Oh wait, we can use these new prospects and picks to trade away next year for rentals!!

I mean its completely unrealistic and hockeybuzz-ing at its best...but we could be better suited to compete for the cup starting in 2016-17.

Welp, trading Malkin is officially the stupidest thing we could do. You know because EK has a blog about it.

I'd rather trade neither. I think it's ridiculous to discuss before swapping out the coach.

We need a coach with some presence. Nobody want's to go to war for a professor type. This guy is obviously a sh!tty motivator.

I agree. My post a few pages back may have seemed nuclear but I'm really not there. I just feel the need to say things like that when people are advancing trading Malkin as the solution to our problems. I keep saying and believing that we'll be fine by the new year, but then every time something happens that we have a major regression and I've about had it that with thinking that this team as it stands is gonna turn the corner at some point. I think the players are legitimately frustrated and want to put in the effort to turn it around. I mean they just had a closed door meeting to talk about it. That's definitely a good sign. If we don't turn it around after being this frustrated and introspective, we're never going to do it under this coach.

If you're Mario and Burkle, why do anything? Games still sell out, fans still drop $180 on whatever stupid 3rd jersey every year, plenty of people still find this entertaining.

The Pens play is nothing new, been the same for 4-5 years now.

I feel like my Notre Dame fandom is quite similar to your Pens fandom. I feel the same thing about our AD Jack Swarbrik

To me the Pens have become a sports version of Ground hog Day. Sure different things might happen every day, but the end result is always the same.

MJ sucks and should go, but no clue who would replace him. Pens had to dig him out of the WHL due to the lack of candidates. Yeah WB might be playing well, but those leagues are light years apart from each other. AHL success doesnt always translate.

Im not even convinced the ownership even cares about winning at this point. Did they really think things would be different?

The guy I wish we really got was Peter Laviolette - Unfortunately Nashville jumped on that a few weeks before Disco Dan was fired

Other solid choice would have been Alain Vigneault, if Dan had been fired the year before, like he should have been

At this point, the best guy I would hope to go with would be Jacques Martin on an interim basis and see who gets fired after this year

I like Laviolette too. Not as big on AV.
Problem with Todd Richards is the compensation would be a 2nd rounder.
Not familiar with Sullivan. Gotta imagine he would be considered strongly. Not sure on Martin.
I know Boucher doesn't have an opt out clause anymore.

IMO Sullivan has done very well with not much in the AHL. Makes me wonder what he could do with a team full of talent. Plus he seems kinda scary. Could knock some heads if needed. Metaphorically of course.

No hockey player prioritizes "good shots" over scoring goals.
- Blackstrom2

Countless people have mentioned this team's desire to make the pretty play...at even strength and especially on the power play.

The Penguins refuse to take shots and outwork another team for rebounds...especially on the power play.

Or...maybe they just can't do it.

Scoring goals in the nhl is hard...but the Penguins make it harder on themselves...they are so predictable now it's silly.

Ditto on Lavy. The greatest mistake ownership made was not dumping Disco earlier. I thought Dan should have been fired after the flyers disaster, but certainly after the Bruins embarrassment. Lavy ate his lunch in that series.

I don't know about JM. Something tells me this team needs a combination of inspiration and motivation. I don't really know much about JM, but I'm not sure he fits that bill.

How Disco and Shero made it past the Boston series is beyond belief. The way the firings were done were pretty shady and odd. It didnt seem like a plan was in place and they are just winging it.
