E Kane = Martin ?

- TheIronSheik

Not yet, he needs to find his scoring touch first...the maybe with his style of play more like Gare to me anyway.

Maybe not the best comparison but I was thinking more that they are/were both 1LW who can score.

Alright gang, so hey... Joe Sacic looks like he's kickin the tires around the league to see what he can get for Matt Duchene?

And word is asking price is a top 4 d-man, a high draft pick, and another player? If I'm TM, Im all over this!

Bagosian, Webber, and next yr's first rd pick to Col, for M. Duchene.

I'm sure Colorado would go for that. Should be a good pick, too.

Risto, Pysyk, and Franson can more than hold down our RH d-man duties, and with that kinda firepower this would start to look like the '07 roster (rolling 3 scoring lines).

Moulson/Duchene/O'Reily
Kane/Eichel/Ennis
Gigensons/Reinhart/Gionta
Delauries/Foligno/Larrson

Maybe theyd prefer a young forward like Foligno or Larrson, rather than Webber. But if they really need help on D, Bagosian, Webber, and Zadorov (who they already have obviously) would give them a rough n tumble group of young, physcal, skilled Blueliners.

Duchene is a nice player, but I don't want to turn into Colorado of the East like Minnesota had turned into Buffalo of the West for a while.

I don't think I'd want to give up the assets it would take to get Duchene from Colorado at this point. While our cupboards aren't exactly bare, one more big trade like that and they will be.

I'm perfectly content to just let things develop here on their own, and Murray said the same not even 2 weeks go when he was on WGR.

So you think Colorado will go for an oft injured Dman, a usesless d man and a 1st rd pick that might not be in the top 10 for one of the game's most dynamic forwards? I don't think so.

If you're trading for Duchene, Risto would be in the conversation. We don't make good trade partners.

Yeah wasnt sure if he was a year or 2 away from ufa status. 3 years after this one is a long time. No way they make that deal.

Exactly. My guess would be not only would it take Risto, but Bailey would probably be part of the asking price as well, since the rumors after the ROR trade went down were saying they wanted Bailey as part of that.

Not a chance. I'll even say that Dutch won't be traded. I just don't see it. They need help on D though.

I'm with you Goose. I don't want to see this team trade more prospects and picks. Don't gut the life line of your organization. We have 9 new players on the roster, let's just see them all gel with the new coaching staff and see how the season moves forward. The only move I would make would be for a goaltender but with Ullmark playing well, that isn't even necessary.

I'm definitely not one of the people that thinks Murray traded away everything, but I don't think he's got a ton of wiggle room to do much more at the moment. If they truly want to contend in a few years, they need to make sure that they have a decent enough prospect pool to replace guys that may need to trade or lose to Free Agency when they inevitably end up up against the cap because of all the young kids getting the raises they will probably deserve.

I think he's made his big trades. Now it's time for the young kids to develop into bonafide NHL players to round out the roster. They need to hit on guys like Guhle, Fasching, Baptiste, Bailey and maybe Martin to turn the corner.

This has been my whole concern.

If you look at the successful teams like Chicago or LA, they always youth in the pipeline ready to step up when someone leaves or is traded.

Chicago has basically traded or lost an entire team between cups 1 and 3

Still two left imo. top 6 winger and and lefty to play with risto. You can get one at the draft (pick or trade) but at some point they'll have to "empty the cupboard" one more time.

It's the drawback of a scorched earth rebuild. When i look at the toronto bluejays rebuild, it's remarkable just how many big trades involving a plethora of prospects had to be moved just to put together an ALCS worthy team (granted baseball is a little different but there are lots of comparable areas between the jays rebuild and ours).

No they aren't, Avs actual beat writers from the Denver Post and Sakic himself came out and said they are not shopping him.

The only reason that rumour started, is from the fired beat writer Dater. who now has deleted those tweets that started the whole thing. Not even the TSN guys are willing to go out on their own and say thats what they are heading too, they keep on saying, according to Dater. If the guy was an actual journalist, he would stick by his worlds, but he a terrible hockey writer who has a history of reporting opinion as fact

TM's got a scouting background. I question his trades all the time but i've had no reason to question the drafting yet (probably because it's early but still.)

Watched a bit of both Guhle and Martin in the last week, i really like what i've seen from both.

And you would piss off ROR the instant you did that. ROR wanted the chance to be a Number 1C and why he refused to sign in Colorado at a reasonable price,

He was never going to move MacK down to 2C, and Avs were never going to move him, so the writing was on the wall with him. You add another Top 6 C into the Sabres fold, thats a recipe to piss ROR right off

Then he's dumber than i thought. He thought he'd be the long term #1C here? I think he just wanted a more important role (you know the C and all that).

Bylsma loves him, his ice time won't be threatened by the addition of another top 6 forward which im guessing ROR would welcome since he spent last night playing with Gionta and Moulson
