This. I did see the last few years of Perreault and even at that age he was still fantastic. There isn't any shame in being trumped by the guy that many consider to be the greatest at his position. I don't know that Perreault cracks the top 15 at his position.
- Slump Buster

I didn't get to enjoy watching Perreault play like I did Dom just because of my age. But, I think it's too hard to really say which is the top player ever for the organization, since you're basically trying to compare two completely different positions. It would be like trying to compare apples to lettuce or something.

I remember Miller saying that if he was flopping around then there was a problem in his game. Ullmark always feels like he is about to give up a few goals but he holds strong. The good news is that he makes the tough saves. I think he can be taught to be in better control of his game.

Could just be a big difference in style. Quick tends to flop around quite a bit and he's considered a top goalie. I don't really care how the job gets done, so long as it is getting done.

I think that you would be right if Dom wasn't considered to be an all-time great and quite possibly the best player in the league for several years.

Ill start off by giving the nhl credit for trying new things out to better improve the sport but could they atleast put a little thought behind some of these changes.

The first Sabre ever drafted

Didn't speak a lick of english when he got here

Carried the franchise in the early days on his back, won the Calder and the lady Byng

Scored over 500 goals in his career

Retired a Sabre after 15 years.

Dominated games like Bobby Orr and Guy Lafleur, mvp of the 78 all star game played in Buff.

As a kid I was mesmurized by his end to end rushes.

You had to see him live to appreciate him. The French Connection WAS this town's sports highlight reel for several years.

- mhp

I only saw #11 in the later years, after robert was moved and martin was already on the decline

where does #11 compare with his peers clarke, dionne, lafleur, trottie, bossy, espo, hull etc

vs dom compared to roy and brodeur

I could say the same about Lehner....In your opinion who has more potential Ullmark or Lehner?
- MCGUIZZY

its hard to say since i have seen more of Ullmark. i did like what i saw in the first game from Lehner though.

i think until i see more i have to put them on an equal playing field

I don't see why one has to be better than the other. Why can't we have 2 guys that are capable of being starting goaltenders? Is that such a bad problem to have?

Who's the worst? (must have let's say 100 gp as a sabre)
- Sabresfan-365

I honestly think it comes down to peters, leino and mike weber

I give it to peters, barely over leino (he put up 46 points in 137 games)

he has good vision.. he seems to track the puck well. i worry about when he gets down his movement seems awkward and i am afraid that is part of the hip surgery thing.

Good points. I saw Gil play and his style looked smooth and slow. But was deceptively fast. He always seemed to be in the shadow of Lafleur as far as who was better back then. Seemed to be since the Habs dominated back then. The USA market for hockey was pretty small too.

Marty got a raw deal.

- Der Kaiser

marty got hung to dry during the bankrupt years
the d there was pathetic

roby was blaming the goalies for the losses, and I think he must have been high on something or blurred vision for those years

imo weber is not a good hockey player but hes doesnt deserve to be in this category.

The 3 worst konopka, leino and peters. Out of those 3 leino was the worst bcz he was actually expected to be a real player.

Konopka and Weber are both out of the worst 10.

But this is not a compliment.

Don't forget we had Zac Dalpe here for at least 15 games last year. And Jerry D'Amigo.

Varada was A bad hockey player but for what he was supposed to do, crash the boards on a forecheck, he was pretty effective at it.

Obviously you never saw Perreault play. I get it, you're a young guy who only thinks it's Dom as the greatest. You may be right that Dom is the best. For my money it's closer than people think.
- mhp

Problem is Perreault was great, but he was not a top 5 player in the league while he was playing. Hasek is probably the GOAT at his position.
