I have heard that Lecavalier could be of interest to Patrick Roy if the Flyers were to retain a good amount of money.

This is like at least the 3rd blog I've read where Ek seems very shocked at how poor the Flyers are this year. I'm not really sure why some are so surprised. This is a team that finished with the 7th worst record in the league last year, didn't really make any significant changes over the summer to improve. Sure they picked up Medvedev and a better backup goalie, but c'mon now, nothing major. They're still saddled with a ton of dead weight, a few highly paid underperforming players, no first pairing defensemen, and no true snipers besides Giroux. Oh and they have a rookie coach. Their best prospects are still a year or two away from the show. Why on earth would anyone think this team would not again be one of the 7 worst teams in the NHL which is the case. This team would be much better served to compete for the number one pick than to compete for the last playoff spot. If the franchise and those closest to it could get over themselves and their storied history, and just commtt to a full scale rebuild once in a while over the last 20 years, instead of always trying to retool, they'd probably have secured another franchise player or two and have won a cup.

This sentiment feels oddly familiar. But only 20 years? You have nothing to complain about yet.

Man I would love Duchene...

I wonder if Beaulieu, Scherbak, 1st would do it...its similar to what kessel got.

I can only imagine Sakic will be getting a boatload of offers.

- Joel_Eh

the avs wouldn't be limited by a NTC like the leafs were, plus duchene is younger and on a better contract. demand will be high if there is any truth to this (which i doubt).

i can't imagine the leafs flipping kapanen, harrigton and pitt's 1st to col for duchene.

nylander, the leafs 1st and Harrington probably gets the conversation started.

Can someone tell me why the Avs are trading solid centers?

Statsny (FA)...... O'Reilly....now Duchene??

Yes you have Mackinnon, but then? Soderberg is pretty solid but is a big stretch as a #2. Conner Bleackley is no where close to being a solution.

Could it be, someone started a rumor and thats it? Duchene had a terrible start to the year, but has picked it up nicely the last 5 games or so.

Slow start = trade rumour.

Duchene would fetch far more than Kess, for exactly the reasons stated above.

Both braydon and luke would be nice starts but I highly doubt this will happen due to hextall not giving up a potential top 10 pick this year or provorov. If Homer was gm this deal might have already been a done deal

Yeah i have no idea if there is any truth to the rumour but i dont know how much more he'd go for...its tough to judge as the only comparables i can think of in recent history (if we consider age) are Seguin and Bobby Ryan.

I'd be very surprised to see Duchene traded but if he it seems like the going rate would be established NHL player, young NHL player, 1st, and high end prospect. Or something along those lines....

Really tough to try and guess what he'd fetch though.

Two teams that I think could use Duchene the most and have quality dmen to flip are MIN and NSH. Doubt Sakic would trade him there even if those teams could make the deal though. Maybe ANA could be another fit.

This is so (frank)ing hilarious.

Duchene, when he is not in a slump, is electrifying, incredibly dangerous goal scorer and play maker.

What in the (frank)ing (frank) would make Ek believe the Avs would trade away Duchene for (frank)ing Vinny? What the actual (frank) are you (frank)ing smoking?

Bob quoted as Dater as his source, who is the fired beat writer for the Avs.

this team imo needs a core gutting, this core has been together like 3 years now and are getting worse not better, there doesn't seem to be any real sense of leadership.

In no way am I trying to troll here, but Flyers fans, are you guys in favor of trading Giroux/Voracek and going full rebuild? I an article from a Philly newspaper talking about the pros of it and was wondering what the Flyer's fans opinions on the matter are?
