With the Leafs headed for another 9th place finish... if Duchene is available, they definitely need to be in the talks and they can include this years 1st in them. - twiztedmike
Nah, include 2019's instead |

And then the AVS win the lottery with the Leafs pick. - LeafMan
Word... we better make 8th then and knock out the Habs 1st round
Duchene is a better player than what you can hope to draft in the 4-20 range anyways |

But seriously.
If the leafs want a quality rebuild....do what they can to get Duchene without this years first. |

Signing Stamkos as a UFA > trading assets for Duchene
Unless we keep any picks and Bozak or Dion are in the deal for Duchene or both |

Pretty certain the avs would want one of the Leafs top 2 prospects, is it worth it then?
If you can get him for a JVR plus something else, fine. |

Depending on the picks.
I'd trade Kadri and some mid round picks or prospect
Or Gardiner, brown and a pick. Not sure that would get you Duchene...but something along those lines |

If one of the leading scorers for past three four year can be trade without including a top two prospect from the other team coming back...mr "saviour" should be able to get it done without include Marner or Nylander.
but who knows. |

True but... he doesn't carry a long contract with term and a big 8.1m cap hit. That is a substantial amount to move as in the case with Kessel. |

Sign Stamkos.
Trade for Duchene.
Play Nylander and Marner on the 3rd line.

For Matt Duchene?
My Lord, when did this guy get so overrated? He's not even a 1st line centre. |

anyone who thinks that player makes it to free agency is (frank)ing nutbar
if the bolts cant sign him.. they move him.. the team trading for him wont give up the return the bolts want without a sign and trade in place
and please.. for once.. dont be (frank)ing leaf fans.. there are other teams other than toronto stamkos would be more than happy to play for.

Yes because getting a 24 year old stud will ruin our build?
It never worked in the past, because the right moves were never made.
Saying it wont work moving forward is complete BS.
Also, there is no "true and proper" way to build....take your time with your prospects, but every GM in every league knows you have to jump on opportunities if they are made available.
Again if it doesnt cost the farm.....heck even use the pens first.
It is well worth it.
