Sounds the Blues Ty Rattie situation.
- stljam

Pro scouts attend 80-100 games per year and they are all trying to separate the NHL "pretenders" from those with real big league ability.

Everyone watches the same movie but those that are the best figure out the ending before others.

Rockford is like a hub for scouts becasue there are so many AHL teams that play in the vicinity...plus close to Chicago.

No way SJ sends Marleau within the conference. If anything, they send him out east (Rangers). Not only do the 'Hawks likely not have the pieces, they can't afford that $6.6 mil salary unless they find a way to send Bickell and Crawford for Marleau and Jones or something of that sort (which obviously won't happen).

I think that the 'Hawks could try to facilitate a Bickell and prospects for Justin Braun or Brendan Dillon? That might work.

- TommyHawk

He has a full MNC so he can pick where he goes. I'm sure they would rather send him to Hawks then ANA or LA. I know this might help the hawks but with the way the playoff format is The Central is probably going to take both WC spots the next couple of years so you are trying to get in the top 3 of Pacific. Helping LA or ANA would make it that much harder.

Reaves finally found the press box last night. Not saying it will continue but....

Wasn't he in the PB against the Hawks too last week?

Mashintor is up because he is playing well and can handle that stuff. The Blues got even cheaper than usual after the Hawks got that lead last week. Desi seems to no longer be interested in that aspect and Garbutt is staying away too. Better to have someone other than Toews mixing it up.

Patrick Marleau. Makes 6.6 at 36 for 2 more years. Unless they are retaining 1/2 and taking Bickell I see no way you could or want to make it work. He has a NMC and at this point said NYR, ANA, LA, (the last 2 are in there div)

with Keith on IR we can call up a extra person without sending anyone down. My guess is they want to see him for a game, before Keith returns. 4th line has been bad. I think Mashinter is a bit underrated, when you factor his size and mobility. With Bickell out it would be nice to have a 6-4 230 player that is strong and can hold the crease. (2013, 2014 palyoff bick im talking about)

- kmw4631

Never happening. They would essentially be paying Bickell $7.3 mil then in cap

(Bickells $4 + Merlots retained $3.3)

Adding payroll and cap trouble is not the route SJS will go

Blues game isn't until Saturday...I think they want to showcase Mashinter a bit. Really not needed for NJ.

The trigger finger probably getting itchy in Calgary now. They have all but blown a playoff spot already.

Bickell won't help unless its a way to dump a comparable salary player they don't want or to get something plus Bickell for one of their UFA to be's.

I don't believe that it's so much about McNeill's compete level. Granted, it factors in to why he hasn't gotten a sniff, but in my opinion it isn't the issue at the forefront. Honestly, he gives it his all when he's on the ice, and is a responsible two-way player. He's in his third season of killing penalties in Rockford and lead the team in scoring last season without much notice. In addition, he's a selfless player with a team first attitude. He doesn't get tied up in petty dramatic player bullpoop. He's not a whiner by any means.

From what? But nevermind it is a hockey board after all.
- MjulQvist

Maybe a language issue but, if not, WRONG day for a cheap shot like that. Go embed yourself in one of those "refugee" camps for a few weeks and you may learn "from what".

This is a day primarily honoring THE FALLEN as well as those living who have served.

Keep that in mind if you intend to respond with another cheap political remark followed by "this is a hockey board after all" to stifle any blow back.

Sharks have their scout stationed here-Dirk Graham, just like some other clubs.
But there is supposedly at least one club following Bickell closely.

- Al

what is there to follow

Doug Wilson- "Dirk, what do you have for me updating on Bickell?"
Dirk - "During the 2nd period Bickell spilled hill latte on his tie. He took it off and changed. A team assistant brought a new clean tie for him in the press box"

The location is definitely a good bang for your buck with the Hogs and Wolves playing so close together. I wonder how many other two team pairs are as close or closer. Can't be many if any.

Don't forget Milwaukee in that idea. All three cities are a short drive time (under two hours) from each other.

So which one of our underperforming underproducing undeniably disappointing forwards will Mashinter replace?? There's plenty to choose from...

Not to mention the Milwauke Admirals are a rental car and 90 min ride north.

Could get 3 games of scouting in among 6 different teams in a weekend
