Maneuvers prior to activating Keith / Rosi from LTIR?
@BrianHedger: #Blackhawks recalled Brandon Mashinter this morning.

Or not?
@TramyersCSN: Mashinter (IceHogs captain) is tied for second on the team with seven points (four goals, three assists) in 12 games. #Blackhawks

JJ, this is why you are a writer. Great story and insight. Kudos.

To Beav and others, thank you gentlemen for your service. God Bless!

Thank you, TG for the kind words, and thanks to them.

Couple of great documentaries on PBS last night about vets (Iwo Jima, where my stepdad fought with the USMC) and injured vets since the Revolutionary War

Thanks! Any buzz on who the Sharks like in the Hawks organization? Talk about a great fill in for #1LW next to Toews/Hoss Boss

They've been scouting the Hawks like crazy in Rockford and Chicago

Patrick Marleau. Makes 6.6 at 36 for 2 more years. Unless they are retaining 1/2 and taking Bickell I see no way you could or want to make it work. He has a NMC and at this point said NYR, ANA, LA, (the last 2 are in there div)

with Keith on IR we can call up a extra person without sending anyone down. My guess is they want to see him for a game, before Keith returns. 4th line has been bad. I think Mashinter is a bit underrated, when you factor his size and mobility. With Bickell out it would be nice to have a 6-4 230 player that is strong and can hold the crease. (2013, 2014 palyoff bick im talking about)

I know this off-topic,
I just wanted to say thank you to a very special group of Americans-the brave men and women of our armed forces who have made the selfless and courageous decision to stand up to protect our country, our families, our rights, and freedoms. We owe each veteran a debt of gratitude and everlasting recognition for paying the ultimate sacrifice.

How is McNeil viewed around the league? Do some Pro Scouts still view him as a potential 2nd line player? A projected middle six power forward that can kill penalties, play some C and has 1st round skill should have good value in a trade package...right?!

Now it's making sense!!
@MarkLazerus: Adding Brandon Mashinter gives the #Blackhawks a second enforcer, to go along with noted goon Jonathan Toews.

Marleau's contract remaining is the same length as Bickell's.

Make the cap hit match on those 2 and the Hawks give a Rockford prospect and 3rd or 4th round pick.

There's your 1LW!

Observations ...

McNeill should be trade bait if any other team finds value in a guy like him in his last year of his entry level deal. He has some skills - they are not top end at all - and as JJ suggested he still plays too much on the perimeter and doesn't physically engage enough despite his build.

On Matt Carey beating McNeill to the NHL ... technically true but somewhat misleading. Carey's contract had him in the NHL for a few games which is what got him signed (and the first year burned off his deal, similar to Michael Paliotta and Kyle Baun). Carey was scratched several times in Rockford last year and when his two year deal expired was not offered a new one. He's playing in Iowa on an AHL deal now.

And yes, McNeill has been nothing special in Rockford this year, but neither have many of the other forwards.

- Hofmeister

The real issue is every club in the league sees the same thing the Hawks are seeing by now. Not saying McNeill won't be an NHL player of some use at some point....But his trade value is minimal.

Sharks have their scout stationed here-Dirk Graham, just like some other clubs.
But there is supposedly at least one club following Bickell closely.

No way SJ sends Marleau within the conference. If anything, they send him out east (Rangers). Not only do the 'Hawks likely not have the pieces, they can't afford that $6.6 mil salary unless they find a way to send Bickell and Crawford for Marleau and Jones or something of that sort (which obviously won't happen).

I think that the 'Hawks could try to facilitate a Bickell and prospects for Justin Braun or Brendan Dillon? That might work.

Wilson knows that team isn't contending. Marleau with a west team the next 2 years won't impact their position. Of Marleau's reported teams he will accept a trade to only the Rangers are in the east. I agree it is a tough fit. Would be for the Rags too. Wilson has to retain a big chunk of that cap hit and that will cost. Wouldn't surprise me if the cost was TT along with Bickell and I'd just say no to that one. Enough mortgaging of the future for cap needs unless absolutely necessary. Give them TT, Pokka and Bickell for Vlasic or Dillon (as you proposed) not 2 years of Marleau.
