I like Bennett too. I think he's part of Calgary's future though.

The reason I suggested Buffalo is because Reinhart wasted with ROR and Eichel on the roster. He's too skilled and offensively minded for a 3C role, and isn't super comfortable on RW. Buffalo would be best served using him as a trade chip.

Now, realistically, they may want more than Simmonds and Laughton. I think both players would be huge assets to Buffalo. But they also need help on D and Goal and would probably look to acquire players there if they trade Reinhart.

- TheGreat28

#14 for reinhart!!! buff gets the 3rd line center....flyers get top 2 center....something may be able to be worked out around those 2.

Would you Mason, Simmonds and laughton for Reinhart and maybe 2nd rounder?

I wonder if aa he top line needs a guy like pat maroon. Size. Plays a simple game. Gets to greasey areas. I almost feel if you keep giroux and voracek together then a guy like maroon seems like a good fit. Almost how beleksy flourished with Perry and Getzlaf.
- J35Bacher

Raffl and Maroon did that job last year. This year they have 5 points in 29 games.

Why do you think a crappy team with an awful defense found it so easy to stop the Flyers 1st line last night?
- Feanor

I think the 1st line...and the entire team... is really pressing. And they've lost confidence.

Let me ask you this.

Do you think Giroux is done? Finished as a player. Vinnie'd.

How about Jake? One and half year wonder. Average player, nothing more.

Of course not. They are elite players who are just off right now. You could make the case that Raffl may have had a career year for an average player last year. But not G and Jake.

So it's either they're toast, they're injured, or they're pressing/lacking confidence/off.

I'm feeling good about it being the last option.

That's dumb. Let's get really indignant and lay all the blame at the feet of one or two players as a means of furthering some sort of internet pissing match.

1 PP point is all MDZ has to show for 277 minutes of ice time. I think he's looked pretty good for the most part, so I cannot explain how our most dangerous ES defenseman last season has fallen off a production cliff.
- Feanor

Its not any single player, its the team as a whole not playing together. Maybe its Gordon Bombay's system that isnt translating too well at this level

Really. Yes he is a moron but he is an elite player.

Read- I still really like his defensive side but he's become a bit of an invisible player. They could probably stand to give a Leier or a Straka a shot at a cheaper price. I don't know how much trade interest Read would generate tbh regardless.

- hereticpride

I disagree that read has been invisible. I think he has been one of their best forwards. I am not opposed to trading him, but I think he would be great for a competitive team.

Would be nice for development of the left side if Fazelev keeps producing as well

Lavi would have this roster at the top of the standings. FACT.

Hey, the team sucks, no argument there.

We're just talking about individuals like MDZ, G, Jake... those guys have always been more productive than they are right now... can't ignore that.

- Tomahawk

While true, it's just hard for me to care one way or the other right now. The team is in a bad place right now. I haven't made it through a complete game in a while now.

Lets be honest Lava would have both his hands in casts and the entire squad would be out with concussions.

Not if he helped them win a cup. He'll Vick took his lumps and then things seem to move forward. Still see tons of number 7 jerseys

This may sound funny, because it always seems like I'm on Couturier's case, but I really don't want to trade him. I'd look to go Simmonds, Laughton plus. They need a natural RW and net presence, so Simmonds really would be a great fit. And I'd prefer to trade Laughton over Couturier.

How about - Streit, Simmonds, Laughton?

A lot to give up for Reinhart. But might be worth it.

Vinny, AMac, RJ- I'm leaving these guys out. Any moves involving them are unlikely and even if they were made would probably require us taking even more trash back.
- hereticpride

I am okay with taking back trash. I think taking back a bad contract with shorter term is a perfect way to get out of the jam. Sure maybe we cant get someone to take AMac for 5 more years. If we find a bad contract with a few seasons on it though, it doesnt seem so bad.

One thing I suggested is Nikitin+ for Streit. Let him waste away on our cap instead of theirs to maximize the value.

He probably would have called a time out after their 2nd goal.. You know, when the game was still within reach. But hey, what if we needed to challenge their forth goal?!?

No Flyers player is currently on pace to crack 50 points.
- Feanor

That's a useful stat 15 games into the season, all it shows is that the team is struggling offensively.

At the end of the season I can guarantee you that Giroux will finish with over 70 points.
Voracek will finish with over 60 and everyone else will be under 50.

I know it's Philly though so the start of a season holds more value then what players have done over the course of years.

I don't trade him just to trade him or give him away. that could be a deal that helps both teams. not like your getting slop back.

streit I don't think helps them much and not a guy they need right now imo...maybe a deal around wayne can work though then your stuck with too many centers again. players will have to play out of position.

Buffalo doesn't want to trade Reinhart. Flyers will either have to overpay for him or just not get him. Laughton projects as a third liner, Simmonds is a 2nd/3rd liner who excels on the PP. Streit is a 38 year old defenseman who will be gone in less than 2 years. Why would they trade the 2nd overall pick for that combination? They will want something like Couturier+Sanheim+pick

I'd take those bets. The makeup of this defense is different to the past three seasons where G and V paced for 70+ and 60+ points each time.

Common sense would say its because they only have 2 legit first line players and 1 of those 2 are struggling horribly so that means teams can load up on Giroux.

Also the fact that the Flyers have no other offensive threats right now could have a little bit to do it with it. When this is your top 15 in scoring that tells me you aren't nearly good enough as a team offensively. Can't have a first line winger that is 15th on your team in scoring.

Im not worried about Giroux..he has proven how consistent of a producer he is over the past 5 years.

Voracek I could see finishing under 60 if he doesnt get his confidence back soon.

Their is not a single other forward on the team I see sniffing 50 points or more . Prior to this season i would have thought Simmonds had a chance but he is a shell of who he was right now. Schenn is actually scoring well and leading the team but he wont get the assists to break 50 i think.
