My feeling this coach wasn't brought in for this team. He is here for when the young talent starts to be integrated in. This year was about getting his feet wet and starting to build. At this TDL they could move some pieces and then start shaping the roster better.
- J35Bacher

My thought as well. His entire experience is coaching kids between the ages of 18-23. While I certainly am puzzled at his silence and lack of any emotion on the bench, I'm not going to write him off for not winning with this bunch of crap.

Now if 2 years from now, the kids aren't developing and they are treading water or going backwards, I'm gonna be pissed.

I guess it's time to decide whether we want Austin Matthews or a Stanley Cup this season

Eichel is a much better prospect with elite skating ability than Reinhart does not have.
- Feanor

And yet every ranking of elite prospects has Reinhart in the top 10, if not top 5.

I agree. G and V should be better than this, but right now they aren't playing like it a lot of the time. That's on them, and they know it. Not saying they won't ever get it together, or that the poop season is their fault, but they have to play better.
- BulliesPhan87

Absolutely and I think they are both pressing big time. This is one of the many reasons why I wish Hextall had at least hired an assistant with prior NHL head coaching experience to be on the staff. Or, perhaps you make a mid season change and add Briere to the coaching staff. He could be just the kind of positive guy that could get Giroux and Jake to just relax and play their game.

they can play better i agree with that...Problem is this team has no secondary scoring or third...its easy for other teams to just focus on them

Man, if only we had some sort of goof who could play on the left wing, complimented them well, and lighten the mood.

I agree regarding Hakstol. But it's not his team's record that I posted.

I think the value of Reinhart is higher because he has a higher floor. You pretty much know he's going to be a good player, but there are probably several guys below him with higher ceilings.

I just think it's risky to trade that much for the guy. He needs to become a very good player for that trade to work out.

And I will too. It'd just tough until we start moving some players out and getting our prospects up.

His game has really fallen off though. He's only posted 72 points in 93 games while maintaining strong possession numbers, which we know only occurred from playing with Giroux and Voracek.

I agree. They didn't have to trade for ROR. They could have waited for Reinhart. There is a level of impatience involved in their moves. Trading Reinhart for the right mix of players to round out the team would be a smart play.

You could definitely argue though that the Flyers don't have the right mix of players for them.

EDIT: Meant to say trading Reinhart, not ROR.

- TheGreat28

that's true the flyers may not have who they feel they need. cant hurt to explore it

Our two 1st line wingers have a combined 5 ES points in 424 ES minutes this season, most of that time spent with Giroux. But it's all the fault of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th lines that we aren't scoring goals.

Couturier is probably one of the only guys on the team that if he doesn't score he still brings other attributes to the team. Yes. He needs to score more but I think he is a core player moving forward.

That is fine but let's not say he is a good offensive player. He is average and that is all.
