As good as Turris has been so far this season, he will get better when Karlsson kicks his game up another notch.

Is Turris as good or better than some 1c's in the league? Sure. He's definitely a step improvement over anyone the leafs have that's for sure. .
Is he good enough to be front line guy on a winner? Not so sure about that one.

Question comes down to, what are you building for.
If your trying to build a championship team, then I think you better set the bar for your 1c back up to a ppg.

David Krejci has 17 points in 14 games.
Last (full) season he put up 69. Not bad at all. But hardly point per game. Bergeron is a similar example of a center that in my opinion is very capable of winning a cup for a team - but only if you have a similar center. #1s like Toews, Crosby, Malkin, Tavares, Stamkos, Kopitar are hard to come by; you almost need to draft that high.

But Turris is surely playing like a #1 center on a contender - there's no question about it. On a playoff team he is a #1 center. On a contender (top 6-10 teams) I still believe he's entering that level of hockey.

p.s. Krecji 2 months ago isn't being called a #1 center - but now that he's lighting the lamp, his value goes up.

Turris in my opinion is too good to be a #2 center - certainly capable of being a #1 center on 12+ teams in the NHL

I think Turris as a number one center looks much better if the depth below him is there.

When you look at the Blackhawks, their top 5 are better than the average top 5 in the league, but so were their next 3 lines of forwards and 2 pairings of defensemen, especially for playoff hockey purposes.

Turris suffers from the fact that many of our depth players are below average on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th lines and on defense. If Turris's line doesn't make the difference in the game, then it is fairly rare that the other players ever do.

I am hoping the brain trust puts aside some pride in having drafted or traded for some guys if we are on the path to the playoffs in the 2nd half, and finally grab some of the character depth players that can win games, or at least break even with other quality depth players and let the top lines decide who wins.

Then we can judge accordingly.

This isn't even a question anymore, Sens did a great job of developing a kid named Kyle Turris who was rushed to the NHL. His time with team Canada and his role as number one center with the Sens answers this question. Take Kyle Turris out of the line up and we are in big trouble. He has become one of my favorite hockey players and he earned it . Times are changing in the NHL and there is a new crop of players at the top of the game and Kyle Turris, Mark Stone and Mike Hoffman are three of them. Don't forget this is a skinny kid who didn't play major junior or AHL he was rushed and Brian Murray got him for pennies and turned him into a stud. He is a layed back BC boy who's best years of hockey are just starting. Props to Brian for bringing #7 to Ottawa.
