Load of injuries, and most of the higher tier prospects are CHLers or play in Europe.

They're starting to get healthy, but it's going to be a work in progress.

Are you shocked teams weren't lined up to hire Berube? I mean you have to figure Berube knows how to drive a zamboni right? RIGHT!???

Labarbera has been awful. I really question why he got two of the three starts this weekend. Is it too late to demote him to the ECHL and sign Zepp?

Stolarz and Labarbera have received almost the same amount of minutes, and one is at .925 and the other is .855.

Yeah, I know that I am real late on this, but it seems that some here enjoy the first hand Phantoms perspective.

Yes, Labarbera has been awful. His lone win came in Hershey after a 10-round shootout. Two of the Bears snipers missed the net when Labarbara was out of position. Two others lost the puck while skating in. The Phantoms won with two late SO goals by kids that had just been brought up from Reading.

Labarbara was bad in Norfolk last year. I have no idea why he was signed over more successful (and younger) AHL goalies who were signed much later in the summer. For the record, he is the oldest goalie in the AHL and the fourth oldest player. Interesting that Ruslan Fedotenko is on that list.

Flyers are trying to develop Stolarz, why has Labarbara played half the games?

As he should, he can still benefit from some more time in the AHL to both work on his play away from the puck and to adapt to the speed and physicality of the pro game.

The most impressive part of Ghost's game has been his rocket shot and puck handling in traffic. He is prone to making ill-fated pinches and has had multiple defensive gaffs that hang A-Mac (his regular partner lately) out to dry facing odd-man rushes. He definitely needs to learn to pick his spots. Other than as an offensive specialist, he currently would be a liability at the NHL level.

I can only say that there has been more emphasis on maintaining the "even" split than picking the opponents for each goalie. In this case, the stats don't lie. Stolie has been the more steady backstop. The season is young, but there is already evidence that the Phantoms skaters have more confidence in Stolie. No matter how it may have been spun, the first shot/first goal against Labarbara on Sunday drained all the energy out of the team that the Stortini KO had provided.

Remember that the Phantoms have a new coach this year, an influx (again) of new vets and an odd assortment of first year pros. I have confidence that Scott Gordon and Riley will figure things out. Yes, there have been some injuries, but not all are integral players who are being relied upon. Cousins and Hagg, yes. Parks and Bardreau, not so much. At this point, emphasizing injuries as an excuse for poor performance is taking the easy out. Also, with Colin McDonald having been injured in game one has pushed Tim Brent into a first line role that I am not certain that he is entirely suited to.

Can you give your thoughts on Morin, Hagg and Alt so far?

I think the idea was for him to be more mentor than competitor for the starting job to Stolarz.

That said, he looked atrocious in pre season, and by most accounts that's been the case in the AHL, too
