He was flamboyant as a coach

That was a LONG time ago.

I realize he's the grandfather of hockey hot takes and he may see himself as a "hockey guy", but most people see him these days as some older approximation of Canadian Skip Bayless.

I am more worried about getting killed by a texter...I watched a guy text while driving and he did not look up at the road for at least 10 seconds

How bout the Flint Firebirds revolting and quitting the team after their coach was fired?

Apparently, Gruden and his assistants were fired by the owner because the owner's son wasn't playing enough for his liking. His son is a rookie dman on the team.

That's terrific. What do they think their options are? Get a bunch of Tier 1 midgets from some where in Michigan?

srsly, I wouldn't be shocked to find out half of drivers at any given time are (frank)ing with their phone. It's scary.

(Possibly) Noble but stupid. Pissing off the owner isn't a great career move.

I honk my horn at folks I see doing that. The best is when they give me a look like I'm in the wrong. Frank them.

Here's some related nepotism for you... so the Plymouth Whalers until recently were owned by Peter Karmanos, Jr, who also happens to own the Carolina Hurricanes.

In 2012 Plymouth drafted a defenseman by the name of Josh Wesley in the 5th-round of the OHL draft. He's the son of Glen Wesley, who won a Cup with the Canes and works in their front office now -- as director of player development for defensemen.

Guess which team recently selected Josh Wesley in the 2014 NHL draft in the 4th-round? Yeah, the Hurricanes. You can't make this poop up.

(and the kid isn't very good, either)

The Devils drafted Brodeur's kid.

Hakstol coached Hextall's kid and we all know that's the only reason he was hired.

Oh, that's just the best.

I commute through the city daily and it's a tremendous feeling to get flipped off when the other person is driving like an bumhole.

That's some next level nepotism right there.

Almost Ruben Amaro Jr. quality nepotism.

The weird thing thing Hakstol actually hated Brett Hextall and made Ron promise not to re-sign him for the Phantoms.

Also, chemtrails.

Also not very good as a coach, unless he had a handful of Hall of Famers on the roster

Most of them are delusional. Deliberate...targeted...intentional... They should all step away from the keyboard and have another donut.

Will Bitten (pictured in this article) http://www.sportsnet.ca/h...-on-ohls-flint-firebirds/

Is the grandson of my old boss's husband. He was so proud when he was selected in the first round by Plymouth, and he made a point of telling me that Will (from the Ottawa area) spent some time at camps etc that Giroux attended and that he really idolized G. Will has been progressing well, and there is even talk that he could be a first rounder. I hope this gong show doesn't set him back.

A lot of people actually listen and believe his bs. Read the comment section.

On better thought, don't read it.
