I would move Jake to LW at this point just to give him a different look. Something needs to change with his game and keeping him where he is comfortable sure isn't helping.

Voracek-Giroux-Simmonds
Read-Couturier-Schenn
Raffl-Laughton-Gagner
Vandevelde-White-Umberger

- Baxter27

the only thing that needs to change is his shooting percentage. He isnt the problem just is stuck right now. He has never played LW and wont start now.

Im willing to try Gagner at 1LW if he is up for it.

This team is going to test the limits of Ron Hextall's mantra about patience.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a deal like that, but I'm not sure who would be the one to go, unless you're looking at a guy like Matt Read or even Brayden Schenn in something of a "hockey deal".

- johndewar

The only guys I'd live with die with right now are Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds, Couturier, B.Schenn and Mason. Anyone else is up for grabs at the right price. If this team needs a core to build on, these guys to me are it.

A guy like Mark Streit in my opinion would bring back a sizeable return. I'd trade him at the deadline for all we can get.

I wouldn't go out of my way to move Scott Laughton, outside of faceoffs, he's been really good. However, I'd consider a youth for youth if it upgraded us elsewhere, most notably LW.

That lineup really sums up the problem with this team offensively.

You know what they bring skill wise, level 1: Giroux, Voracek
Success based on certain things, level 2: Couturier , B Schenn, Simmonds
Average, level 3: Read and Raffl
Developing, level 4: Laughton
Unknown, level 5: Everyone else

I feel like for the Flyers to be successful their needs to be another tier right below level 1 which is you know what you are getting but its not superstar level talent. In a perfect world Couturier and B Schenn both raise their games that way over the course of the season and we would be better off.

There are no untouchables for me at this point. Some would take a ridiculously good return to move, but no one is untouchable for me. I'm nervous Voracek is going to be a streaky player moving forward. When he's not scoring, he's not helping too much in other areas. I'm hoping he's just got a case post big contract pressure and that he will snap out of it.

I'm actually real sick of "trying" a player out of their natural position.

Voracek is as likely to move to LD as he is LW. His whole game is based around playing the off-wing, just like his idol Jagr.

I'm a big Mason fan but if his performance level drops below the standards of a starter then I don't want to re-sign him. I'm not saying it will, or predicting it will, or hoping it will, I'm just saying - if.

Given how wacky & unpredictable goalies are, would anyone really be shocked if Neuvirth outplayed Mason this season and they went into next season in open competition for the starter's job? The goalie contract situation is pretty much perfect for the Flyers. They just have to let them play and act according to how they perform. There's no need to rush.

maybe they can bring over Jakub Kovar; hell he is only 27!!!!

Would absolutely love to get Boone Jenner out of CBJ. I don't think Torts would let him go though.

We need more Niko Hovinen. Or we could bring back Martin Houle to improve upon his 27.27 GAA.

In the last few years we've seen too many different types of cores. I hear you on Voracek but Giroux is a product of the organzation and he's that damn good. I wouldn't move Giroux until he's really lost "it".

I do think Mark Streit gets traded this season. It's just a question of when, IMO.

Yeah, that line was great for like 11-12 games in December/January until Steve Downie turned into the anchor that dragged Read/Couturier down. Over his final 32 games that year, he had 1 goal and 4 assists and was a -6 with 28 SOG. So yes, he helped provide a spark, but then he sucked for the rest of the year until he was mercifully scratched for a career AHLer in the playoffs.

Edit: I agree with your premise. And I'm not saying it was a horrible, crippling trade, but everyone seems to remember his good, short stretch and forget his awful, (much) longer stretch.

- jmatchett383

Oh, I remember it. His game went to poop when he suffered his second head injury of the 13-14 season in late December. But by that time the team had dug itself out of the hole.

I think we should ask him for a list and really try to pick pocket one of these teams. I truly believe he's worth a roster player, a prospect and a first round pick.

Steve Downie's concussion was evident. He came back with Pens and played better. He just needs to keep his emotions in check.

He would be the hardest for me and would take a huge offer for me to consider. I think G is going to bust out soon. He's looked stronger on the puck lately, despite some of his mistakes, imo

I don't know about that sort of return, but I think you can definitely get something for him.

Doesn't matter. Unless the prospects are ready to put up 60 points at the age of 18, they're all busts anyway.

Those picks and prospects will be too old to contribute by the time the Flyers will contend again so we have to aim for younger assets.

Remember when Luke tried to keep a puck in the zone last night by going to his knees, but instead it went 5-hole on him and gave the Oilers a breakaway in which Neuvirth had to make an outstanding stop? Yeah, I do....
