lucked into it too. little things like Keith's ridiculously cap friendly contract keeps them competitive. They never really had to make the tough decisions that the lightning will have too over the next 2 years.

Winning the lottery for Kane didn't hurt either.

Seems to be a lot of talk going on about how much we've depleted the pipe line and whether that's good or bad. But I really think that if there's ever been a time in our history where we could ship out prospects, its now. Sure, losing some of those prospects hurts but what we have now in return for them means that there just is not going to be too many spots on the roster for prospects anyways. We still have a boat load of picks in this up coming draft and quite a few players to dump at the deadline for more picks. If our scouts can fine the value in Guhle at #51 and he's managed to turn a lot of heads, and not just in our organization, than I have faith that our scouts can find a few more gems and we'll have a deep system again before any of these kids have a chance at the show anyways.

Not to beat a dead horse but it should be said the players acquired by Murray are all 25 years or younger...

Kane, O'Reilly, Bogosian and Lehner...

I think Reinhart is getting comfortable finally.

The passes he is making are showing why all the scouts loved his hockey IQ

That pass by Reinhart was off the charts. Plus, it seems like he is really gaining confidence compared to the first few games. And is it me but does he look faster? What would a line of Eichel, Reinhart and Kane look like?

Fair enough and good point, but i have seen a lot of bonafide NHL forwards come here and see their production drop, which seems to be a trend. Ville Leino, Chris Stewart. I realize that Kane and O'Reilly are better than these players, but there seems to be an issue with moving from a good or average team to the Sabres. Players coming here are expected to play roles they haven't been in before. O'Reilly was never the main man and the primary focus of defenders. And I don't expect them to produce at the same rate as they did when they were good players benefiting from playing second line roles.
So when you all say they are thirty goal scorers, I expect much less. They were 30 goal scorers in the situations they were in on better teams in lesser roles when they weren't expected to be the best forwards on the ice. Now things have changed, and we will see if these guys ever produce what many of you expect.
should I remind you that neither team thought enough about these boafide top six forwards to keep them around?

While i dont know the entirety, i believe oreilly spent alot of his time in colorado on a line with duchene, call it top line or 1b whatever you want. Top 6 on a team aside from one season they went bonkers was not much better if any than 'run to 9th' darcy regier era buffalo teams.

Kanes time in atlanta/winnipeg were not on better teams. Had he not been injured and traded last season, it would have been the first time he was on a playoff team, one that squeaked in at the end of the season ala regier era buffalo teams.

Again, nice try.

How far away is Guhle? I don't follow prospects?

Three years? Is he projected to be an NHL Dman?

He almost made the team out of camp. Will probably be 2-3 years.

He wasn't projected to make the team this year (he didn't) but he showed a lot of promise in camp this year.

I still think he is 2 years away
