Good points. At the moment Murray doesn't seem to be liked much around the league and the Sabres haven't even begun to become the destination for players they hoped to become. Let's face it, the bulk of the new faces were forced here on trade. The others who were signed as FA's are scrubs. Not trying to be captain buzzkill this moring but it is what it is right now.

Just curious what this is based on? Personally I don't think any team becomes a destination until they win consistently. We obviously haven't done that yet.

Johnson was between ok and good in his first 6 starts. He gave the team a chance to win 5 of the games. He was horrible last night. He is not tagged as the future goalie of this team. As a backup he's fine. The calls to get rid of him are amusing only one day after he was the reason we even had a chance for OT.

It's a long season. One good or bad game doesn't define any player. I think grabbing Ramo would have been a smart insurance since Lehner is out 2 months, but it's not Johnson's fault that he's the current starter. Up until last night he has exceeded expectations.

Im convinced keeping Johnson (even perhaps adding lehner) is all part of his stealth tank job to add one more elite player.

I think the odds were more likely we would miss the playoffs and pick in the top half (probably top 10) of the draft. But I don't think the franchise and Murray in particular wants to be bottom 5. They know fans are done with tanking. Look at the stands. Nobody is showing up.

I thought around top 10 draft spot as well. So far I don't cringe at the thought of watching a game like I have the last couple years and I don't want to go back to that. Tanking sucks.

They don't definitely don't want to, but i think they realize they need it unless an opportunity via trade comes up soon.

I know right? I don't think we were ready to pencil ourselves in for a playoff spot but we weren't ready to write ourselves off either. I think at this point it's a total afterthought. I'm just hoping we look better by thanksgiving, then better by Christmas. Maybe in January re-open that discussion.

You can't seriously be suggesting that they tank the rest of this year already...

I think I may need to take a hiatus from here if this is seriously what we're going to start talking about after 7 games of the year.

I think we'll get another high draft pick, but not because we tank. Remember this season is supposed to be "fun to watch" again, with minimal expectations on the overall team. Yeah, it'd be nice to bury some of those chances, but at least we're getting the chances this year whereas last year we simply had nothing

You would think they lost to the Leafs last night and not an undefeated team that's been clicking on all cylinders last night with the talk of tanking again.

Johnson had a horrible game. It happens. Time to step off the ledge.

Going to my first Sabres game tonight, what are the options for parking? I would like to pay as little as possible within a reasonable distance. Not worried about having to walk a little (10-20 minutes) to save some cash. Thanks for any help!

The game last night was not a typical 7-2 game. But it just goes to show how a game can get away from you if you don't bury your chances and let in a bad goal or two.

Not only that, but if you look at the overall stats for last night, the game was nowhere near as lopsided as the score would indicate.

I guess Edmonton needs to throw in the towel again too, since they lost 7-4 to Washington last night.

They out shot one of the best teams in the league by 10.

Like you said they didn't bury their chances.

Eichel looked unreal out there.

If/when the Sabres get another top 5 pick this year do they try to go after a puck moving defenseman who is also solid in his own end, or with their lack of finishers up front is their priority another offensively gifted forward with finishing skills?

They went heavy on the backend last year and Guhle is going to be a a good player for them, I'd tend to go for a goal scorer. Before the last two weeks it would have been a D man unless they won the lottery but this team needs finishers bad.

You won't have to worry about that tonight, this has all the makings of a very boring game.
