Time to sell off more future for the now. Kansas city is on hold on line 2

1975 called, they wanted to know when they are going to see another Stanley Cup! I advised them NEVER!

The only thing I don't like is Plots on the 2nd line. He does not belong in the top 6.
- madmike71

I dont mind it for a first look. Plots has looked lost, I dont think he really knows what he is expected to do and the language barrier has got to make that tough. On a line with Malkin and Kessel his job is a clear 3 step formula:
1 - Go to net
2 - Stick on ice
3 - Vodka goalie eyes
He's a big guy, he could be very effective as the net front presence.

So happy the Kessel/Crosby experiment is done.

I really like the way the top six looks with todays practice lines. The top line is a forechecking nightmare, and the second line is a skill overload.

So ... the beat goes on ... still looking for a winger for Sid. Can't wait to see what we give up to get one since we have little left.

PH did really well with 87 last year. 25 goals in 64 games is nothing to scoff at. They didnt need another top 6 F. They needed 2, a 3C and a top 4 Dman. They got 1 of those and a swap for Sutter. They need to rid themselvs of Scuds, Dupes and Kuni. Too many old guys making too much. Unfortuately Maata regressed adn the D prospects arent what anyone thought they were. Again there are bigger issues than just getting a LW. Theres only 1 trade to make IMO.

I kinda thing Hornqvist is the winger for Sid.

Plus, Kessel is still new to the team/system, and theyre playing with Kunitz who has been awful....so I wouldnt say Sid and Kessel will never work.

Spezza, Hemsky, Sharp, Seguin are all new to the Stars within the last 2 seasons. Not an excuse for Kessel. Someone at thta level and salary is expected to produce. Hes a professional not a high schooler.

Honestly trading kunitz to someone for a 5th rd pick would do wonders for changing the dynamic of the team.

If someone would take Kuni for a 5th same could be said for Scuds. I dont think either are worth it at this point in their careers.

Fire GM JR n hope to get a 2nd rounder from another team hiring him in season.
Bennet is a bust. Trade to NJD for any D on their roster.
Malkin to TB n Stamkos to Calgary n Monahan/2nd to Pitt.
Hold on to draft picks instead of wasting them.
Tbh the Pens will not contend this year.

I said before and I think the Kessel experiment prove it, Crosby doesnt elevate or even work well with elite/all star players. Playing with Team Canada has shown this time after time.
He's been called the best grinder ever and that is starting to look more true everyday. Hornqvist IMO is the exact type of player Sid needs, if we could find another copy of Kunitz we would be golden and the best part is those players are cheap.

We had to have a look, everyone in the league and every fan wanted to see Crosby and Kessel. Now we know and we can move on.
I think this turns us into a much harder team to play against, who do you line your top pairing against?

Except you were no where to be found when Perron was playing well last season. He has a 96.8 PDO with the Pens. When it gets back up ~100 you'll disappear again.
- jfkst1

No, not likely. Just because I never post doesn't mean I'm not laughing at the high praise of the Almighty Perron. When he was with the Blues, I just knew he was gonna be a superstar. I even went so far as to buy his jersey & get it autographed. Not long after, though, i began to notice he never learned anything. Same mistakes. Same lack of attention to detail. Same offensive play killer. When he was traded, it was for the better. St. Louis ended up with a better player in Barbashev. Once he got traded to the Pens though, boy, Mr. Wilson here on Hockeybuzz sure lauded it as a steal, even going so far as to condemn Doug Armstrong for trading him previously. Well, as I originally pointed out, he has certainly changed his tune. You will too, in time, once you've actually paid attention to how he plays.
So, I laugh to myself, but when I read this blog saying Perron is just "blah", I couldn't resist pointing out the flip-flop.

No chance. That kid is already one of the Blues' top 3 Dmen. He won't be going anywhere

Parayko is an absolute stud. His emergence reminds me of Maatta's emergence when Maatta was a rookie. Hopefuly Parayko's development doesn't slow/regress like Maatta's has.

19 year old that has never played a single pro game is now better? Maybe you should hedge your opinions. You probably also said Cole sucked and he's been much better than Bortuzzo ever was.

Same with NYR; zero cups. Why'd you change your location? I loved that prescient quotation of mine about Girardi.

In terms of ceiling, Barbashev's ceiling is easily higher than Perron's. But you are right, the kid has not played a single NHL game (he's in the AHL this year, and has played 3 games, so he has played pro games) and has a way to go before he can definitively be called a better player than Perron.

The comical value in the last one was it's accuracy despite such widespread denial in the preseason. Interesting Yost article on old G-dawg:http://www.tsn.ca/girardi...ad-nhl-contracts-1.380823

I see your Girardi obsession is still full mast

It's been well documented that Girardi has bad Corsi numbers. Nothing new to see there in that article.

I thought the Mt. Rushmore of bad contracts was an interesting proposal. Probably only for teams that don't have candidates in the running though...
