Agreed. There was some nastiness on the board last night because one member pooped on GMTM because we didn't start the season 6 - 0 (being facetious). As you and many others have pointed out, the games are actually enjoyable to watch now and at least we have a fighting chance to win. This is due to Murray's moves - end of story. We can all speculate about who won what trade but let's at least wait for 40 or 50 games before we cast any sort of judgement on this team. From my perspective, if they get somewhere between 70 and 80 points and improve on the special teams, 5 on 5 etc and appear to have a system in place, I will be pleased at year's end. Somebody once said Rome wasn't built in a day. These things take time.

I'm perfectly fine with the on-ice product right now. They will score more eventually.

Even if it took three years for them to make the playoffs it would still be way shorter than what it would've been without the trades. This team is just starting to get rolling. if anything Marie is open for criticism for tanking, not the trades. But since the tank worked (Eichel) there aren't many people still angry about it.

We have to remember that players like Compher and Lemieux are still three years away from even having a legit shot in the NHL. It would be asking too much of this Fanbase to tank two seasons and then wait another five just to get a decent product.

Before the O'Reilly trade, my thought was along those lines

This year would be a bounce from the bottom, ending somewhere around 25th-ish
Next year would be bubble/slightly outside the bubble
Year after would be 5-9 spot in the east

I'm a patient fan, I know we'll get people complaining they've been waiting 45 years, but this team hasn't had a talent like Eichel since the Lafontaine/Mogilny days, so give it a couple years to develop. That Mogilny scrub took a full season to hit his stride (43 points in 65 games, then 64 points in 62 games in season 2)

Same here. 20 games from now will be a better sample size to judge them. Until then ? Get lots of beer .

Exactly! Express your bad feelings that they're not scoring or that people are underperforming, but that is not a correlation to them being bad. It will take time for things to work out. I figure in the next 2-4 games the line shuffles will be over and then things will really settle down

With me picking up the extra Toronto game, it's a Sabres-filled week. Got back to backs tonight and tomorrow. Wifey and I are hitting up canalside and Pearl St for nostalgia before tomorrow's game.

Have fun. Very jealous. I was at the Columbus game when Eichel scored "the goal" of the year. The roof almost came off the building.

By the way, I might one of the dissenters on this board but that new Sabres goal song actually was really fun to hear after they scored - at least in person.

- SabreWest

Glad to hear, since I voted for it 50 times.

I think so as well. The whole building seems to get jumping around when it comes on. Personally, I don't really care what they play. I'd listen to anything. If it's being played that means they're scoring goals and that's a good thing.

Anyone have friends in Mexico ?

Patricia rapidly organized and intensified from Wednesday night through early Friday. Maximum sustained winds with the storm increased 115 mph in a 24-hour window from 85 mph at 4 a.m. CDT Thursday to 200 mph at 4 a.m. CDT Friday.

During that same time, the minimum central pressure of Patricia also decreased 100 millibars, from 980 millibars to 880 millibars.

This places Patricia among the most rapidly intensifying tropical cyclones ever witnessed anywhere in the world since the advent of modern meteorology.

Traveling to PHX, Denver and LA next month.

Just my luck that each city I am in, each NHL team is on a road trip.

He's been good for Rochester so far, but he may not fare so well in the NHL yet. He's coming off major hip surgery and is adjusting to the smaller ice surface. The NHL game moves so much faster than the AHL game that you may see the smaller ice cause some issues for him.

If you actually look, we have so many goalies in the system someone has to turn out eventually.

Lieuwen
Makarov
Ullmark
Kasdorf
Petersen
Johansson

Out of the 6, someone has to turn out, right?

I highly doubt they made this switch just to have a new guy sit the bench. He's going to play one of these two games this weekend.

I really don't know. Theory went around on the prior page that Lieuwen has been collecting cobwebs where Ullmark has been getting plenty of starts. Could be about brushing off the rust on Lieuwen.

The thing is with goalies, you just never know. One of those guys next year could have a break out year and play out of his mind.
