It would not be to overpay on every trade I made because I had a bunch of extra picks and prospects.

It would not be to trade away good defense prospects for bottom six forward prospects. McNabb and two seconds for Deslaurier and fasching.

It would not be to give a 21st overall pick for a goalie drafted at 46 and with a major concussion history. Who wasn't even in top two in ottowa who was starting Craig Anderson.

It would not be to trade for players with character issues

It would not be to trade for players who want more money than they are worth, who have never played a primary role. And to expect them to be our answer as a top line center.

I would have been patient. I would have given the prospects time to grow and develop. Why rush, we have at least three years until Eichel and Reinhart to grow up. We didn't need to overpay on every trade to try to get every piece in place in one off-season. Giving away all the assets we had saved up from dismantling the team.

We have exactly four prospects left with realistic expectations of making the NHL, outside of goaltending. Guhle, Baptiste, Bailey. Fasching, and I am being nice including Baptist who if he makes it would be as a second line scorer, and Bailey and Fasching are third liners at best. We went from being set on defense for years to come, to being an injury away from Mike Weber playing second pair minutes. We had the best prospect pool in the whole NHL one summer ago.

And instead of throwing away all the second and late first round picks to facilitate trades, I would have tried to package them together to move up in the draft, or use them on trades that are fair and reasonably priced.

Can you please tell me why you're even a fan? To be quite honest, I'd rather you weren't. Please find a new team to be a fan of because having less fans is better for the team than having fans like you.

Wow, that article was horrible. Evaluating a trade after 5 games. Never mind that Kane has played very well. Nope, only look at the stats. What garbage.

No, someone predicted a Kaner Hatty, so Rhino and Kaner with a hatty and one for Larsson for sitting out.

The fact that he's been their best pitcher all postseason is why they are in the spot they are in.

When I see that this organization is being horribly mismanaged I consider dissent to be patriotic. And because 90 % of the posters her use one brain and believe the same exact rosy story that Tim Murray is awesome and it is fine to overpay for trades because we have to do something to get good players in here. We don't have to overpay for every trade, we don't need to take chances on players. We shouldn't trade good defense prospects for bottom six forwards who are a dime a dozen in FA.

I especially enjoy being insulted for having an opinion contrary to the collective.

Stay classy

Hard to say that there has been overpayment in the trades because the pieces (read: prospects and picks) could all turn into nothing.

McNabb is a decent 5-6 for LA, but D-lo and Fasching are positives for me.

Goalie is the least of my worries. He's the only goalie that was available in the market that Murray was looking at that was young and would have term, plus RFA status.

Character issues to you, may not be the same as the team's front office.

Money = same as above.

Prospects like Eichel and Reinhart are already showing they are taking strides as the games go on. Why not make the most of it?

We have a lot of prospects in our system. They are not the only promising ones. They are maybe the closest to being ready, but they aren't the only ones that could turn into something. Time/development/etc is different for each player. I trust our scouting department.

Just my $0.02 to your thoughts.

great comeback

you want to make a prediction of any other prospect making the NHL? A realistic chance? Am I really making a stretch prediction there. You disagree? Go ahead and ask your freinds what they think amd get back to me later woth your answer.

Agreed.

I like Kane, and O'Reilly. But people act like we got Nash and Kopitar.

We got 2 top 6 forwards, an often injured top 4 D man, and a HUGE ? at goalie.

I have no doubt with the additions and Eichel/Reinhart that we will eventually be a very good team. I do have doubts that we will be a cup team

a few posters were pontificating on why tim murray was the best gm in the league already.

hold your horses bro!!!

also, eichel has so much talent. doesn't seem to be quite as dynamic as connor, but far more calm and effortless.
admittedly, ive only seen a very small sample over a couple games

15 assists for Konecny-PHI in the last 7 games. T-2nd in OHL scoring despite an unlucky SH% of 3% per @CHLStats.
