I think the only way this happens without media and fan outrage is if Vrbada wants out right now. Otherwise, who trades away their best scorer 5 games in while trying to sell the idea they want to make the playoffs and come out with better results in the post season as well... I do get the sense that Vrbada is unhappy with his situation. I think he sees a shift in philosophy with the team. No longer is it him and the Sedins trying to win a cup... but shifting towards fast tracking kids.

If Vrbada wants playoff hopes he can gamble that this team will make it again... and no be the same fails once they get here... or just pick a list of obvious teams and going there soon.. then there's his next contract he needs to think about... needs goals to get paid... he may see greener pastures in a number of cities... it makes sense for him to welcome it... it's a tough spot for the GM though. It's not tanking but people will rage over it.

Vrbata won't get moved until closer to the deadline in all likelyhood as teams need cap space, unless there's an LTIR spot out there. Better to move him when there are more suitors anyways, as it drives up the price.

Yeah Prust is going nowhere and for Higgins to have ANY value whatsoever he will have to come off injury and light it up.

Coaches love Higgins for depth and versatility. We all rag on him when he's not scoring goals but at the very same moment... you have the coach praising him...

Just because we are not getting scoring production out of him in a top 6 role does not mean coaches forget what a solid player he is defensively and his one or two hot streaks he gets a season. He has value as a great depth addition.

I really like Higgins and don't believe for a second that nobody wanted him. The guy can slide up the lineup for a game or two at a time but is best suited for that 3/4 line role. There are so many things he does really well, and adds a bit of scoring also.

Agree and actually I have always liked Higgins for what he brings at both ends of the ice he is just super streaky now. And I have to wonder how long he will last under the youth movement. We know that WD likes him and he will have a pretty long leash after he gets back from injury.

I switched over just as the Jays blew a 3 run lead. So glad that I'm not emotionally invested in the Jays; I would imagine cheering for any Toronto based team would be incredibly painful

I guarantee I'll never know lol

I hope the Cubs win it all.

I like Vrbatas game but he seems either tempermental or moody.
I could be imagining it though.

Unless he has a NTC or a modified one Edm could use a veteran.
Canes maybe if Skinner a risk comes back.
Ideally more depth D but at this time idk where from other than maybe Philly or NJD.
Sorry for a ton of spitballing 😂😂

But that is what they're collecting. You wouldn't tell a stamp collector that he's got enough stamps.

Some sensitive types on here don't like it when people refer to them as the "coilers"... Their panties might be twisting as I type this...

If asked he had to provide a5 team list that he would accept a trade to. Same as miller's except miller's is a full ntc until the end of this year them he gets to provide a 5 team list

Maybe maybe not. His scoring has tailed off n suspect health r risky.
Dependent if Vrbata would go to Carolina. 23 is young but concussions r nasty.
If u have one or more like myself i'm sure u would agree.
That all said its my early season spitballing.
Idk why but this season might see bigger early season deals going against the norm.

Any of my early season musings r just that.
I'd guess Pitt n LA n CBJ n Philly n NJD n always the Leafs r front runners for deals.
Ppl might suggest other spitballing ideas.
